Definitely not on one match. He's only going to hit his best when he fits well with what's around him, and that didn't seem to be right yesterday. I do think there's more in him if that happens, but that's probably only one or two more seasons - I'm not sure he has the strength or legs to drift on into later years and be dependable for goals (at this level).
Everything but the game: Because it's not just a game, it's a way of life.

What is it archaeologists say? "One brick, is just a brick, two bricks might be the start of a wall..." it was encouraging that we conceded none, apparently by the new fangled notion that space doesn't score, players with the ball do. I was particularly pleased when Morley sussed the trick shot and decent blocks by Forrester by heading towards the ball rather than a random bit of space. As a result we didn't need to bag three to win the game as we have done on 14? Occasions this season. Maybe we do have some coaches that understand how defending works.

Onwards!

We used to say, "feck me, it's cold. Fancy a pint?", but I'm sure the above got said at some stage.

What a day. Buzzing for Jules. Buzzing for the players, and the fans. It was almost the perfect game for that back to basics approach. Free hit, the least Michael Duff front two ever (I'm not sure that back three will ever pay a game again where they're all bigger than both strikers!). A club together. Really hope we can get Schumacher done asap, announced tomorrow, win on Tuesday in a game with a Bolton legend in each dugout, couple of additions and on we go. Get in.

Also, some big performances, and obviously back to basics but that was how you play a back three. That was more than just #pashun from Jules. Didn't press all the way up (a mid block as the stats dullards would say), better at stopping crosses (though that was still an issue early on, but it looked like that was the aim), simplified on the ball. The biggest think for me was how front foot that back three was to step in. Consistently aggressive and defenders being able to enjoy defending. Delighted not just that Jules got the win but that he was integral to it. Think he should go back to his day job (for his own sake of nothing else) but it's good we've got a fan with a brain working down there.

IF Schumacher was done tomorrow my assumption is that Jules still leads team Tuesday. Would be harsh to not let him and also not ideal for Schumacher to lead a team he’s not had any time with. I assume that’s what you are thinking too.

In a way takes pressure off Tuesday a bit too. Win and it’s lovely. Lose and well, new manager is waiting in the wings to come and sort it out.

Everyone around the club seems pretty confident it's Jules for Tuesday. I'm looking forward to singing his name under the lights. Hopefully the new guy is on a watching brief and we can kick on with another win.

Yes! I hope one day we'll be able to call Schumacher a Bolton legend but it's a touch early for that :D

Julian Darby v Kev Nolan in the dugout Tuesday.
Nero fiddles while Gordon Burns.
