That's certainly one way of doing it. Another is to get the new manager announced and in the stands before the game - the players will then know he's watching their every move...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:18 amI reckon it’s ‘done’ but they are not going to announce it till tomorrow to keep focus on the game tonight.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 8:48 amHas no one asked azzitbindone yet? Agreed. That’s what I’d do. But I’m just reading between the lines of what Iles has said today. He’s basically saying ‘it’s done’ without saying it but doesn’t sound to me like he’s prepping for an announcement today.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:20 amThat's certainly one way of doing it. My guess is they don’t want to take limelight off the players and Darby.
Maybe I’m completely wrong and it’s not done or they announce it at lunchtime.
I’m happy either way. So long as we’ve got the right man.

So, in summary, it may or may not be done and it may or not be announced soon?
Feels pretty close and hopefully in the next 24 hours...

Aye - the thing now is that we're running out of window. Obviously he and we might already have targets in mind (or indeed in the works) but you'd imagine the new man wants to at least take a training session first, suss out his new charges.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:26 amI’m happy either way. Judging by what Gethin said about last week's schedule, they all had Wednesday off and only those who didn't play Tuesday trained fully on the Thursday. I guess that could happen again this week - complicated by the fact that I imagine they will stay over in Berkshire on Friday night rather than travel on the day? - but you imagine the "game training" for Reading will be Friday morning.... which means the new guy won't get a lot of chance to see them on the grass. Then the deadline is Monday night...
IDK – maybe they'll have them all in on Thursday and give those who play tonight a slightly lighter session. But you'd imagine he'd want to see them all train. At least he's got a free week after Reading; indeed, he'll get plenty of time on the training ground as February has no midweek fixtures yet, although we'll need to fit in the Pizza Cup quarter-final. Speaking of which, next Tuesday he can pop down to Vale-Wrexham to see who we'll get. (That'd be a nice trip for Schumacher, as an ex-Stokie...)

One assumes the next manager whoever that might be is watching tonight and taking notes.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:52 amAye - the thing now is that we're running out of window. Thinking about the schedule that would make tomorrow a good day for getting the managerial introductions to the media etc out the way.
But we will see.
Edit: in his latest piece on link to Etete Iles says ‘Wanderers hope to make an appointment by the end of the week’. Which does go back to the original timetable but would be cutting it very fine for Reading and indeed assessing the squad and doing anything in the window.

In keeping with the modern age, he might WFH and watch recordings of recent games and training sessions.

Expecting Julian to also take the Reading game, with the new manager in place for the Crawley match.

I doubt he’s at liberty to post that!GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:23 pmDo you know whether they've actually pulled the trigger yet, or are they still deliberating?

Re: Who's the Rioch to Evatt's Neal?
Feels to me like this process is being dragged out unnecessarily and is a bit silly considering the window closes on Monday. You want a new manager in on the training ground this week and making some decisions. Especially given they left it so late with Evatt.
If you can’t get it done in a week - that’s a pretty poor show.

I'd say somewhere in between those ends of the spectrumGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:23 pmDo you know whether they've actually pulled the trigger yet, or are they still deliberating?

IMO if this information is factual from jmjhb this could point to it not being Schumacher, it wouldn't take this long if it was SS.

Re: Who's the Rioch to Evatt's Neal?
All the candidates to our knowledge are out of work. So it would not in theory take longer for any of them. Perhaps it points to internal disagreement more than anything else?Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:35 pmIMO if this information is factual from jmjhb this could point to it not being Schumacher, it wouldn't take this long if it was SS.

Not necessarily. I have no idea who it is but I presume they have gone through the process of establishing a shortlist and are now talking/negotiating with the preferred candidate.

Coaching setup to agree too.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:38 pmIf they have a rough agreement but are doing legal, contract and HR work then that's no issue. Decisions can be made before the official stuff happens.

Re: Who's the Rioch to Evatt's Neal?
All sorts of stuff, yeah. Getting their preferred staff out of contracts elsewhere may be a condition of them signing the deal. Any number of staffing rejigs or facilities changes may also be part of it.
So long as they know who they want and that guy wants to be here it's fine. It could break down, but usually doesn't.
