Also it just doesn't make sense to wait until the transfer window closes & possibly signing players (this lanky young striker etc.) that the new manager (whoever it is) may not want.

If we are in active negotiations with the new bloke we're not signing anyone he doesn't want.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:56 pmAlso it just doesn't make sense to wait until the transfer window closes & possibly signing players (this lanky young striker etc.) that the new manager (whoever it is) may not want.

I suppose it depends what you want to do. Appoint a staff ready to go with the manager would take a few days wouldn’t it? Getting people up. Agreeing terms. People working out accommodation etc.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:51 pmIt wouldn't take until after the weekend, its only Tuesday.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:40 pmCoaching setup to agree too.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:38 pmIf they have a rough agreement but are doing legal, contract and HR work then that's no issue. Decisions can be made before the official stuff happens.
But regardless all candidates would be in the same boat - so not sure how you could say Schumacher would be quicker than say Buckingham?

There's the certainty of prepping for Saturday too. I'm still hoping it will be announced before Saturday and they can then have time with Sharon and Markham on players whilst Jules can concentrate on the game.

I think that’s the best case scenario and hopefully what is happening. Odd situation really.

If I've read it right ? he's also said that he would be very surprised if the new manager is not in the building today.

Feel free to take the betting odds with a pinch of salt but Schumacher's are going in the opposition direction I'd expect them to go if there were an announcement imminent.

Just Sean Dyche, albeit probably watching his currant. Iles headline has Darby signs off in style, so he must think the happening is happening before Reading...

There is this weird internet thing where people think the bookies know what’s going on. It’s a computer. His odds will be lengthening as he’s been ridiculously odds on all day and no doubt there has been no value in backing it. In what is a very small and restricted market.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:22 pmFeel free to take the betting odds with a pinch of sakt but Schumacher's are going in the opposition direction I'd expect them to go if there were an announcement imminent.

In more mature areas to bet like football and nfl results books will tend to track gamblers (usually pros) who are identified as winning bettors and adjust according if they see decently sized bets made by them. But as you say in what will surely be a relatively shallow market a fart in the wind will lead to odds shifting. Betting odds are not an indicator of probability, but exposure.
