Do we think Jules might get a role in the first team setup? I don’t know how many coaches SS might bring with him - but Darby if he wanted to work with the first team and could get on with Schumacher would be worth a go maybe?

Schumacher took a few with him from Plymouth to Stoke: assistant Mark Hughes, first team coach Peter Cavanagh, goalkeeper coach Darren Behcet and fitness coach Elliot Turner. But he also retained Paul Gallagher, who was already there, as a first team coach. Profiles:BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:03 pmDo we think Jules might get a role in the first team setup? When Schuey got knived they all left with him except Behcet, who stayed on as one of two keeper coaches (Schuey's replacement Narcis Pelach brought in his own mon, Paul Clements, but he went when Pelach did). So he would be the one we'd have to buy out of his contract if Schuey wanted to get the full band back together, but he could also just find someone else.
As for Julian - he could do the same thing as Paul Gallagher did for Schuey at Stoke and be kept around the first team, for continuity; that sort of ting does happen in uite a few instances. However, he's been busy coaching the U18s so it's not like keeping say Pete Atherton around - and besides Jules might want to get back to the job he's been doing with a lot of success. It's not like he'd be exiled - they train at the same place.

Not sure - the Academy is very short-staffed at the minute with Jules stepping up temporarily

Some herbert with the name Nigel Christy 'Sports Journalist' announcing on X that it's official and linking the club website. Which of course, has no reference to it.

I don't think Jules wants to do first team duties long term. I can't say I know for sure, but when I spoke to him he said he wanted to get back to his usual schedule as soon as he could.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:03 pmDo we think Jules might get a role in the first team setup? Also feels like he isn't desperate to be involved with the first team. Manager job would drain him and a coaching job might underutilise him.
Schuey would do very well to include him in Boot Room chats but my sense is that he's happy teaching the kids. And he seems to be good at it. Maybe he could shift up to the Bs but it should be up to him.

Yeah, he's a youth team coach who's stepped up to help in a moment of need.
I don't think we need to complicated matters by trying to accommodate him into a role he - and possibly also our new manager - doesn't want.

Re: Who's the Rioch to Evatt's Neal?
Wasn’t suggesting we forced anything. If he wants to be U18s coach then obviously he should return to that. No issues. He’s been unbelievable. I’m not sure we could ask for a better stand in performance. Just musing whether he would fancy doing first team coaching and whether that might work. I mean he’s done that before and was Billy Davies assistant for a while wasn’t he?
But absolutely if he wants the old role back sounds like he’s doing a cracking job there.
Must admit I had a lump in my throat as he walked round on Tuesday at the end thinking back to him as a player. What a moment that must have been for him.

Re: Who's the Rioch to Evatt's Neal?
It got very dusty in this room when the camera showed him in the final minute of the game, as he realised the stadium was singing "He's one of our own". He was visibly choking back his emotions before he waved. Dunno if DJBlu can snip that second or so but man, you'd have to be stone-hearted not to feel anything watching that. Some story.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:11 pmMust admit I had a lump in my throat as he walked round on Tuesday at the end thinking back to him as a player. I'd be more worried about getting binned by the club when the next manager arrives if I was JD. Hopefully not. When someone new goes in there is the immediate clearance of coaches, then over the following year there's sometimes more that leave. If he's doing a good job, someone like JD from the same area, should be independent of whoever the manager is. Especially if someone is needed to fill in again.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

As U18s I think he is independent from the first team manager in our structure. Same way Jimmy Phillips was when he ran the academy.Armchair Wanderer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:17 pmI'd be more worried about getting binned by the club when the next manager arrives if I was JD. Definitely seems like a good egg to have around the place if anyone upstairs reads this.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:23 pmAs U18s I think he is independent from the first team manager in our structure. We may well be doing a disservice to Taylor and Tutte here. Who knows what roles the three of them were playing behind the scenes.
