Good appointment. On paper the most sensible candidate and most likely to make a success of it here. Obviously things don’t always work out as you expect, but I’ve every hope. Not much people can complain about here - we’ve gone out and got the best man for the job.

Schumacher takes charge at Reading. That'll be a sell-out now, you'd think.

Yeah this is it. Football is about winning. That’s the issue I had with Evatt from the off. It was all about doing it the right way a brand. That’s not what it’s about. You have to really ultimately want to win. More than anything. I think Schuey does.I'm the type of manager that is ultra-positive, tries to play football in a way that the fans enjoy coming to watch us, try and entertain, but ultimately I'm a young manager that is desperate to win,” he said.
“I think over the years, since I've been a head coach, even as an assistant coach, we have found a way to adapt our teams and to try and get points on the board and success, and that's what I want to bring to Bolton Wanderers.”

Supposedly he badly wanted the gig too, which you always want from a gaffer.jimbo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:07 pmGood appointment. We wanted him and he wanted us. Let's crack on.

Happy with Schuey. Feels like a good fit for us and hopefully he can lift the team and fans even more after the great work by Jules and the 2 Andys.

Do we know yet if he's brought his own band of merry men with him?

A Plymouth Argyle friend wanted Schumacher back when Rooney was sacked. Seems like he is still liked there. He has just sent me this link.

He will be, but at the minute that's being sorted out.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:44 pmDo we know yet if he's brought his own band of merry men with him?
Mark Hughes is due in next week, I think. Or at least that's what's being suggested around Accrington.

Pleased to finally get it done. Proper legend Jules for keeping the wheels turning but this appointment just feels right.
I think there’ll be a few faces that won’t fit what he wants and that’s fine. We need to back him as fans

Delighted with the appointment. 22 out of 28 thought he should be the main man and he was clearly the front runner.jimbo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:07 pmGood appointment. There will be ups and downs but its an appointment that should certainly keep up the positivity.
Cheers for covering the games Darby!

Evatt said that the work he and Chris were doing behind the scenes would mean a head coach could just slot in when he left. We'll see if he was right.

No, the Mail's headline for tomorrow is "Steven Schumacher Causes Cancer!"
