That's another B/kid getting a divisional promotion - Marine are tier 6, whereas he was at tier-7 Ashton United from Sep to Jan before being recalled. As you'll know better than any of us, being fast-tracked upwards isn't a bad thing. He's still got 2.5 seasons underage, too.

He’s talked high energy and high tempo are what he believes in. So it gives some clues. He had pace at Plymouth.

There's no time for radical change, but will be interesting to see what he does. It'll probably give us an idea of how he sees the group and wants to utilise it.

He's unlikely to play exactly the same here as he did at Plymouth. He adapted his approach to Stoke and probably will with us too.

I'm excited to see what he does. It may not work immediately. We've been running on passion the last two games, but there are still clear issues around fitness etc. He has to be given time, as much as I want us just to now smash the division.

Obviously if we go out on Saturday and smash Reading I will be launching HMS Piss the League, but we've all got to give this bloke time and massive backing.

Worth noting that one thing he does like is big athletes getting forward.

Whittaker, Butcher, Hardie, Mayor, Cosgrove, Azaz...he wants 6'+ lads who can break on sides. He wanted that at Stoke too.

Maybe that means he would fancy Therkelsen as much as Evatt did, though he has been doing media duties for his club recently.

He might just love Macca.

I'd say Lawal at Stoke on loan, but would Jon do us or Stevie any favours? Probably not.

A lot of that promotion team at Plymouth got dismantled. Callum Wright has 18 months left on his deal, but would you add the type to this group? If Schumacher wants to play that 2 #10s system he used at Plymouth then maybe.

It'll be interesting to see if Vic really has a groin strain, or if Etete's arrival means we've taken one of the longstanding offers for him to free-up funds for the new bloke to get players in.

Nathanael Ogbeta! He's unsurprisingly not getting much of a look in at the minute...fortunately for us he of course wasn't signed by Schumacher so I think we're safe there.

As Ghost mentions, Callum Wright played under Schumacher and was very good for them in the second half of the 22/23 season, but he's a lightweight attacking midfielder, very similar player to Joel Randall so not sure he's what were really need right now. He also started Argyle's most recent game so maybe he's part of new man Muslic's plans.

Jordan Houghton is a defensive midfielder who played 2,742 league minutes in Schumacher's L1 promotion season and then 2,868 minutes in the Championship last season. He's on the fringes of the squad a bit this season, only seeing 620 minutes of league action so far, but like Wright he also started against Sunderland so might be back in favour.

One other side issue is that Schumacher played a key role in the "Lolos gets booted out of Plymouth" saga from a few years ago, as Lowe's assistant.

Lowe apparently didn't like Lolos' attitude. Lolos thought he should be starting games and Lowe didn't. He said as he left he'd help Klaidi find a new club, but there were issues there.

You have to wonder if there's any bad blood with the new gaffer. Hopefully not and Klaidi arguably suits Schumacher's style more than Lowe's. Lolos is arguably one of the players in League One most like Morgan Whittaker - in style, if not ability.

I think that he'll bring another 2 in as well as Etete before Monday's close, he's probably been around the club all week behind the scenes whilst the contractual side gets sorted and will have sat down with Markham and identified a couple of players that he likes or knows who he feels can improve the team quite quickly (he said that he's watched the last two games).

Whether he can get the likes of Williams, Santos or Airfield off the books time will tell, but I think a couple will be deregistered if not.

I mean i'd take Nathan Lowe if they're lending their jewels, but I actually meant "players they might want shut of". Stoke always have a bunch of them, partly due to changing their manager more often than their kit.

Obviously a lot of that work has been done by Chris and his team behind the scenes with regards to the transfer window. We've been in conversation for the last few days and we are in discussion about where we think we can try and help the squad, if possible. With the deadline coming up on Monday I'm sure there will be a little bit of action going on here and there.

I've watched a lot of the team, and I think the thing that excites me a lot about this squad is that it has a lot of similarities, a lot of traits of what a squad or a team of mine would look like, of how I would want it to play anyway.

The footballers have a lot of talent, but in the last couple of games they have also shown real character, real determination, played with good energy, and a real good togetherness to get the results that we have on Saturday and here on Tuesday.

As I've said before, Rioch took Neal's team up with basically three very astute additions (Branagan for nowt, McGinlay for Philliskirk, Lee for the Liverpool-tie money). And this squad isn't as bad as it's been pretending. COYWM.

Yep I do think there are things needed. What we’ve seen in the last two games is for example a back three that would have made people wince or shriek previously suddenly look the real deal and a different approach to how we setup change the nature and requirements for wing backs.

But there are also potentially big decisions over the next few months. Santos is out of contract in the summer isn’t he? What happens there. No doubt some of our players will be of interest to others with deeper pockets too if we do well for the rest of the season.

That was an interesting part of that podcast. Ilesy hinted that there is a contract he thinks has been extended but not announced, but said he didn't think it was Santos, and that other players like Gethin and Baxter "had some thinking to do" (or similar - not verbatim quote).

Now, considering the only other lapsing contracts bar those three are Coleman, Dacres-Cogley, Arfield and Randell Williams, are we expecting new terms for JDC? And frankly do we think he's a tier-two player, if we get there?
