Lots of good from that. And lots of bad.
Aaron had one of those days. Randall was poor. Etete...Christ.
Should have been out of sight. Can't win if you don't score.

Yeah feel like Schumacher has a lot to do here. First is to go back to how Darby had us setup because I think we aren’t good enough to play this sort of game quite. Not yet.
Etete is another Markham special. He looks months off being anywhere near ready to play first team football to me. But being young it’s harder as his confidence will be shot to pieces by that.
We are I think a compact side who plays in behind teams I don’t think we are quite good enough to execute this, maybe with an addition or two.

Absolutely brilliant!!
Who can we blame for this? Evatt? Nope, gone already. Santos? Oh, injured and not playing. JDC? Off the pitch....
Damn. Need to think of someone else quick. That's it, Markham out! Markham out! Markham out!!!
Priceless...

Well a 1-0 defeat for the new manager thanks to his first signing Etete.
He's had 45 minutes of football this season, not going to write him off so early on in his Bolton career, but he needs to kick that crap out of his game. Reminds me of one of Cameron Jerome's performances that where he gave away a penalty.
Some positive signs to be had there, but not enough to win it. Collins had a shocker in terms of being clinical, did most things right barring getting shots off.
Lovely to see JDC putting in a good performance, same for Forrester. Don't deserve to come away with 0 points from that, but it doesn't always work out the ideal way.
Hopefully Kion 'cost us a point' Etete can turn that around and perform a lot better than that.

I mean Collins should have scored four, and they've created nothing until that brain dead penalty.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 4:58 pmYeah feel like Schumacher has a lot to do here. So frustrating,
Collins. Missing glorious chances topped off by Etete using his arm instead of his head.
Julian Darby said we'd lose when playing well.
Don't know if that was it.

Well that result was bound to happen with all the optimism built up within the club over the past week and Reading on a three game losing streak

We definitely need a grafting midfield type and a striker who knows where the goal is before Monday’s window closes. I think everything else will have to do. But those two are essential if we want to have any sort of a go this season. You can’t rely on Collins alone and we have nowt else with any threat. Vic had another very good game in support - no issues at all but we need another option - a Charles replacement.
And midfield is horribly lightweight. I just think a runner who wins the ball would change us significantly. Without one I don’t think we can play like we did today. And whilst we have Matete I don’t feel like he’s that front foot aggressive type.

I get that but the same thing happens too frequently when we setup like that for it to be a coincidence. We do ok lack control miss chances and pay the price. It’s a pattern and I don’t think it’s just bad luck. I think when we don’t have control in games we struggle to take chances and to keep clean sheets.Prufrock wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:01 pmI mean Collins should have scored four, and they've created nothing until that brain dead penalty.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 4:58 pmYeah feel like Schumacher has a lot to do here. Someone is to blame for signing that donkey and you can add Randall to that as well. Our signings this season can only be described as a complete disaster. We've gone backwards. Whoever is responsible should be sacked. All the rest exists solely in your own mind.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 4:58 pmAbsolutely brilliant!!

We're looking at Collins to win us games every week and he's bound to have off days.
At the minute nobody else is confident enough to smash the ball in. We could use another lad who will put his foot through it when he has half a chance.

I mean the answer is taking your chances. I'll snap your arm off if we can have that balance of chances in every game until the end of the season.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:07 pmI get that but the same thing happens too frequently when we setup like that for it to be a coincidence. Oh, behave yourself. The other lad you're all claiming is a "disaster" has scored 7 and set up two great chances to win it off the bench today.Spartan2 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:11 pmSomeone is to blame for signing that donkey and you can add Randall to that as well. Go have a pint.

Just like Schumacher, I don't think it's fair to make an opinion of a player after 20 minutes and one result.
Nerves and other mitigating circumstances at play.

Not a judgement on the player but a 23 year old coming back from injury with barely any football this season is unlikely to fire us up at least not for a few months. That’s not his fault it’s just hard to see him making a contribution in time and today only solidified that.

It seems like an odd choice, especially given he signed a new deal and so isn't a "loan to a freebie" with an eye on next season.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:27 pmNot a judgement on the player but a 23 year old coming back from injury with barely any football this season is unlikely to fire us up at least not for a few months. However, we have until Monday night. Let's see what they do in that time. If the answer is nothing then you'd guess they've agreed to "give it a go" this season, but their eyes are mainly on the summer and then a proper go at 25/26. If they go out and spend then Kion may just be a cheap Plan B option.

It was a big improvement on our previous performances away from home (obviously excepting last Saturday).
The other side of it, though, is that we still too often turned over possession in dangerous areas, and I'm sure Schumacher will look to address that.
Obviously, it wouldn't have mattered today if we'd had more composure in front of goal.
