Seasons pretty much a write off. Nowhere near enough time for Schuey to assess adequately and find the gems we need.

He'll have to find how to get the best from the squad rather than recruitment being our saviour

We’re level on points with the team in sixth, and fairly unlucky not to be ahead of them. How is the season a write off?

To be clear here - I don't think we should be rushing into signing permanents on long deals, because we might want to refresh in summer anyway. (If we did sneak up, we'd have to.) So in that way we'd be looking for loans (maybe kids to avoid the squad cap) or short-term contracts - eg buying out Jordan Houghton's Plymouth contract, and we'll see where we are in the summer.

The more the day wears on, the more I think about Schumacher's postmatch comment that he had to leave two travelling players out of the 18 and left another two at home. Could it be he wants a slimmer squad with fewer options? Would any of us think it's the end of the world if Williams and say Arfield or CMG left?

But what "no incomings" would do is leave us with those squad imbalances - no specialist DM, no Dion replacement (unless it's McAtee which feels like very wishful thinking).

Well we were two minutes and a brainfart from getting a point on Saturday.

But if my auntie were my uncle, she'd have bollocks and a 'tache... :D

League is weaker than last season outside of the automatics, a long way off last seasons pace. Brum have 63 points from 27, Pompey were top this time last year on same points, but played 4 games more. Wycombe are on the same points as Derby were on in second, but 1 game fewer.
Can't argue with any of that. Will just add, though, that the top two are still averaging over 2ppg, which IE insisted wouldn't happen...

Anyways, yes. Despite our worries in the summer, the league is statistically weaker than expected. Sadly, we're markedly more so...

I suspect Schumacher came in and was told Etete is signing and that’s your lot, take it or leave it.

Lot of fans are unhappy and I can’t blame them entirely. However, what must be remembered is that whilst the board and Markham have made what I think can only be described as a complete horlicks of the last year or two - the real real issue was not binning Evatt off after Wembley.

Everything stems from there. And truly it’s probably for me one of the absolutely worst decisions anyone associated with Bolton wanderers has ever made. A manager flounced off after their own failure moaning about needing to ‘consider what the future would be’ and they still then didn’t bin him and instead handed him millions to spend on what clearly were the wrong players.

The damage was done then. Schumacher will fix it I’m sure. I just worry how long it might take.

I very rarely cheer a player leaving, but I will be delighted if we can shift Arfield.

Easy now:
"could come to an end tonight, with at least two Scottish clubs hoping to sign him before the deadline."

Sonic might actually be the one who's driven him up there himself.

Nothing against him but would have preferred it on Jan 1st rather than Feb 3rd.
