I’d take Cosgrove for sure. Sort we need.
I'd rather a midfielder. We still need to fit Lolos and CMG in somewhere.
Me too. But we are going with what we’ve got so that’s that!

Lights still on at the stadium. So much for the energy saving plan...

Barnsley have just announced their new striker from Bastia. One in, one out...

Apropos of nothing, is Etete the first player we've signed that has a palindromic surname?
Quite possibly - think we have an Eze in the U18's too..I thought we had a Noon, but he had an e on the end...

I'm not sure anyone will lose any sleep over that one. Though the training ground scrap between him, Toal and Rico would have been like a Godzilla flick.

I mean a plus for Stockport and we still don’t have anything resembling a half decent target man. Cosgrove would have helped till the end of the season.

Why the hell have our last few transfer windows turned out to be such utter dross. It's like a graveyard come the end of the transfer window and any sort of interest in a positive outcome has long since gone. Marc Iles must be so bored.

It's another transfer window where we have significantly improved our opposition. First in Charles at Huddersfield and now Randell at Leyton Orient. Last transfer window it was Morley to Wycombe to improve their chances and now we've got the others covered.

If we really wanted to shoot ourselves in the foot we could sign some players that should get nowhere near the team and give them chances in the toughest games of the season. Oh wait, we did that with Arfield against Birmingham and Arsenal.

I get that it's early days with the new manager, but it very much seems like we can't make decisions on signings quick enough, only outgoings as that would seem somewhat financially prudent.

Etete and Murphy, both early days. I quite liked Randell and Charles was prolific. We've not strengthened. Neither Murphy nor Etete are on permanent deals, make of that what you will, but it's hardly building a squad for the future. I fear the club have settled for a season of transition, and written it off already, rather than pushing for the play offs and giving it a good go.

I suspect after significant investment in the last 12-18 months, we're just hedging our bets a little. Probably be quite a busy summer

We’re still only a few seasons on from almost disappearing for good. Despite our ambitions, financial prudence and sound planning have to come first to ensure survival. We are in no position to spend our way out of the division, unlike some and let’s be honest, aside from Wrexham signing Sam Smith, there are very few transfers into L1 that have aroused any jealousy, on my part at least.

Yep. As Marc Iles has hinted the timing of evatt leaving and Schuey coming in was pretty suggestive that they weren’t looking to knock down transfer doors. One might suggest that the money to change manager and staff perhaps precluded more deals.

I think final analysis is that if you are hoping for promotion this year then it’s been a dreadful window as we are weaker yet all the likely rivals stronger at least on paper. However, I’m not sure we were in a position to do a rebuild and I think we have to wait till the summer when I forsee major transitions. I just hope they’ve got money as I suspect to be competitive next season will be needing considerable investment.

As one person on the BN site put it, the big signing of this window has surely got to be Schumacher? I can agree with that. Now that we've got space in the squad I wonder if Matheson might be given a go and a chance to impress? Likewise some of the other youngsters?
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

We had space in the squad for Matheson before Christmas, but didn't use him. However, different boss now. Then again, in his one game so far Schumacher has started with his tallest wingbacks and pinged goalkicks toward them, so that's not great news for Luke...

Luke's probably our fourth-choice RWB behind JDC, JOT and Gethin, who may find it hard to get in at centre-back, especially when Santos and Forino return.

I noticed a few players' contracts being cancelled at other clubs, not sure if any of them will be of interest?

We're a lot stronger (hopefully) in the most important job.

Squad's fine.

I believe we have 5 players in the group who have over 20 G/A in a single season.

Let's see what Schumacher can get out of them over the next 18-23 games.

Aye.

Is Randall better than Arfield? Christ, I hope so.
Is Murphy better than Williams? Time will tell.
Is Kion better than Dion? Erm....

Is Schumacher a better bet than Evatt? I have to say yes, until proven otherwise. That was the change we really needed to make; it's a shame we did it so late. Oh well. Let's see what he can do with a squad he's said excites him: like Pru, I'm excited to find out, after a few months of waiting and watching the slow death of a dream.
