You can walk and chew gum, as the Americans say.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:48 pmOne would suggest that it’s unlikely a manager is picked and on the way based on what we know.
Emergency board meeting last night which seems to be opportune given the fact board members were there for another reason.
Signing players up to this week. If it was long planned and new man identified I can’t see that being the case.
Finalizing departure details this morning. Again suggesting not necessarily long in planning.
Ian has been struggling for ages and the market should have been quietly sounded out for at least 3 months now.
They should know who is and isn't interested and exactly who they want.
If this is a long process they have shat the bed on it.

I dunno. Prossibly, probably; but I would say (in reverse order of your points)BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:48 pmOne would suggest that it’s unlikely a manager is picked and on the way based on what we know.

• severance details are always going to be finalized after the fact
• signing players - it would've been weird/ugly if he wasn't allowed to, and the Dion sale feels more 'board' than 'boss'; I will agree that Randall is expensive but maybe it's Markham as much as Evatt (sorry, Worthy)
• board meeting last night - coincident but expedient.
Wouldn't surprise me if we'd quietly asked questions, or some candidates had quietly made their availability known. Football's very much like that, no matter how "different" your club claims to be.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
It would be a ballsy move to have the replacement in the stand - even City didn't do that when it was widely know they were hoofing Hughes for Mancini. So to me that makes it feel less rather than more likely.

Could be Leam doing a Suntan a "reminding them there are alternatives"...never worked out too well for Phil, all that hanging out in the press area.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 1:12 pmIt would be a ballsy move to have the replacement in the stand - even City didn't do that when it was widely know they were hoofing Hughes for Mancini. Re: The ianevattable sacking
Very relieved is my emotion on Evatts sacking. I never celebrate anyone's misfortune so I wish him well. However, it should have been done last summer. Anyway, I am now hopeful we can have a go at the top 6. With Evatt I had lost hope.
Re: The ianevattable sacking
I believe Andy Taylor will be taking charge for the next two games with an appointment possibly by the Reading game. No idea on who yet.
Re: The ianevattable sacking
Someone suggesting a Klaus Dieter Wollitz from Energie Cotbus is favoured for the job. Now THAT would be a hugely weird signing. No knowledge or experience of the UK game, indifferent history at all of his clubs and little if any knowledge of UK players, few contacts etc.
Let the silly season speculation commence!

Ah it's a shame it came to this. Club put out a video of the highlights and there have been some great days.
Well past time, and a sour end, but there were some great times. We'll always have Wembley. But then unfortunately we'll also always have Wembley.
Onwards and upwards.

We can confirm that Academy coaches Julian Darby, Andy Taylor and Andrew Tutte will step up to take interim charge of the First Team.
The trio will be in charge while we conclude the search for the right candidate to lead the Club forward on a permanent basis.

As this thread has been resurrected - thankfully for Evatt's mental health he didn't get the Carlisle job. They've appointed Mark Hughes - oh how he has climbed down the managerial ladder.

Re: The ianevattable sacking
I don't think Evatt would have been a serious candidate. He may have been sounded out, but not sure his ego could take him to the bottom of the football league when he thinks he's a Premier League manager

Is there some sort of Carlisle/Barrow rivalry?

You don't seem to see many veteran managers at this level anymore, apart from ones that have been there all their career, but Hughes is particularly ineffective in League Two in my opinion.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 9:07 amAs this thread has been resurrected - thankfully for Evatt's mental health he didn't get the Carlisle job. Fully agree - the fact he was odds-on at one point being yet another reminder that gambling's not a reliable revenue stream...boltonboris wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 10:51 amI don't think Evatt would have been a serious candidate. Yes, because there's f**k-all else to do except climb hills
They made their feelings about Evatt perfectly clear when we played them
