Oh yeah, forgot that quote. Wow.
I didn't doubt the mentality of the players as much as some. But their gaffer was running out of road. This one, it's all bright new vistas.
I mean, we started this game with a different system to the one we finished the last game. we tweaked it as we went. and then we changed back to protext the lead. That's not "reactive" - it's responsive and responsible.

Great fight back. This team getting closer to playing up to its potential. JDC MoTM for me. Forrester not far behind. We are now seeing how important Sheehan is to the team.

Aye. Our last-six form (W5 L1) is the best in the division, including the automatic promotion challengers. It just so happens that those are the six games since Evatt left. (For the record the six before that were, chronologically, WLWLDL.)

Huddersfield in free fall as well since the Darby masterclass should help free up a playoff spot.

Yup. The thing is, if Evatt put out that 11 to start the game and they offered up that first half people would have gone mad.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 5:33 pmAye. The huge difference is that Schumacher saw it and knew how to change it. If Wellens changes his set up in the first half against Evatt we simply lose that game. Schumacher reacted to the reality in front of him.

And as far as I know Charles is still to score a goal yet.

Macca and Collins have 9 G/A between them since Charles' last appearance here.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 5:52 pmAnd as far as I know Charles is still to score a goal yet.

Good 2nd half Collins changed the game - he was excellent, as was Forrester, Morley & JDC. Major bugbear is the keeper going down 1st half to stop the game for 2-3 mins so that the manager can get the players over and change tactics - 1st half we where bossing the game from 5mins - 30mins without testing the keeper, then their keeper goes down absolutely nothing wrong with him (we did the same against Blackpool and it changed the game for us). It's not good and its happening almost every game.
Competed really well today, showed fight and spirit - decent crowd on, decent atmosphere 2nd half and good to see more fans staying to the end than has been the case for a few years.

Collins was unplayable down the left today. Could have scored a couple and/or assisted, too. Unleashed Tutu on the overlap as well. The right type of game for it and, once again, indicative that Schumacher spotted what needed changing in both personnel and tactics. Well played, everyone.

I also liked Forino's cameo, he looked like an organiser, a talker for those last 10-15 mins he was marshalling the defence - we still need a proper No9, McAtee scored a great equaliser but 1st half he never jumped for any headers or kept the ball he just continually & blatantly backed in to their CB's.
A decent side Orient, but they shot themselves in the foot with all of their play acting, going down feigning injury at every opportunity.

Went from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 to 5-3-2 to 5-4-1 in search of the result. Well deserved it was too.

He'll find it even harder from the bench.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 5:52 pmAnd as far as I know Charles is still to score a goal yet.

So, in summary, as a reminder to where we are from recent narrative:
The team are a bunch of leaderless shirkers with no bottle.and none of them are apparently fit to wear the shirt.
Sheehan is a soft luxury player
Mcatee is a waste of space and money
Selling Charles was a shocking decision
Am I missing anything??

Yeah, changing the manager won't help.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 6:54 pmSo, in summary, as a reminder to where we are from recent narrative:

Dunno, my HT comnent was "pretty poor," I mean, I could've said "as bad as an Evatt 45," and had it been 4.5 years in, sure it'd have been slated, if that helps. I think he's going to need a transfer window or two...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 5:50 pmYup. Yup. We're 8th. I saw a gutsy 45 (55?) minutes. Who was the "leader?" First 45 you could've probably sold any if them.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 6:54 pmSo, in summary, as a reminder to where we are from recent narrative:

Nothing much to convice me that Sheehan is a good defensive, defensive midfielder. He's fine going t'other way and I don't dislike him.

He presumably wouldn’t pick that XI as it couldn’t really fit into a back three. But I do take your point.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 5:50 pmYup. Reason the new gaffer gets more rope is that he hasn’t ballsed it up too many times… quite the opposite, in terms of results, thankfully. Still plenty room to improve - we can’t give Wrexham or Birmingham a goal start…

I’ve just looked at Wycombe’s run in. It’s as bad as I hoped for.
