No welcome in the Hillsides. Away to Wrexham Sat 1 March 12-30.

I should think it’s a given that we’ll exercise that option. Even if he’s deemed not good enough for us next season, he’s clearly now a saleable asset. Probably worth £150k+ I’d say.

Oh I certainly think we should. He's played in all 34 of Crewe's League Two games, starting 32 of them, and from what I can gather he's played in different positions. You have to ask, if that's not clearing the bar of "successful academy graduate", what is?

I have to say, it'd be f**king hilarious to watch their fans if Wigan approach Evatt... although I don't know what would happen if he was in charge of Wigan vs Bolton, the universe might fold in on itself...

It would be funny, but I can’t see Evatt being interested, in which case if he turned them down, I’d find that amusing also. Win/win.

Hire the wrong guy and that pathetic club could still go down. You’d hate to see it.

I watched the EFL highlights this morning. They’ve resorted to putting advertising over rows of seats around the stadium. Extra revenue admittedly but trying to disguise how empty the stadium really is. Here’s hoping for the wrong appointment.

Wow.. wrong thread for this but Jack Iredale just scored a beauty for Hibs vs Hearts. His first goal for them and in a local derby. I still look out for our former players. He would have done well in a Schuey side as we struggle to find a proper left full back.

Iredale another who’d have been excellent under Schuey. It’s what happens I guess when most of the squad fall out with a walking ego. Massive shame.

I mean Iredale was alright and I'd be glad if we had him back for the rest of the season, but I don't think he's Maldini – and I don't think "most of the squad fell out with" Evatt is a claim that stands up to any sort of scrutiny.

We're better without Evatt, and we should have got shut earlier, but let's not hype.

There was nowt much wrong with Iredale as an out and out defensive CH. More limited in the might be a LWB, maybe a winger world...but we spent 2 years being fed bullshit.

Best thing I've heard in ages was Schumacher post match saying losing a goal every game isn't any sort of basis. Hope he clears the decks of absolute bullshitters and we never see their likes again..

Iredale a solid squad member who I wouldn’t have minded keeping, but not a difference maker in general. Can’t recall anyone on here shedding tears when he left.

Oh they didn’t like him. But regardless - the point is that all our players performed worse under Evatt and Iredale would be ideal for Schuey. As a left back or left sided centre back.

Well, no. Didn't shed tears for Dapo either. Not coz I didn't think he was no good, but because I didn't think Evatt was going to play to his strengths. Not sure of your point?

He'd be useful now because we don't have many options at lb but let's not get giddy. We'd want better in the summer, and he had flaws that mean we still wouldn't quite have what we need there.

Iredale that is. Letting Dapo go due to insistence on 352 is one of the worst things Evatt did. Partly but not quite mitigated by signing Collins.

It seems to be the weekend for our old left backs scoring worldies in Scotland. Twitter has just shown me a video of Declan John popping a free kick in off the bar against Celtic.

Iredale was usually singled out for being incapable of stopping crosses coming in and wasn;t a particularly good ball player for us. Defended the back post ok, but was just average. Nothing more, nothing less.

As always though, players who leave are always better than players that stay
Players we don't sign are always better than players we sign
