I'm still not happy about the "1," but I'll let it ride!

Fair enough. Interesting to hear Schumacher wasn't that bothered - "sometimes you just have to take your hat off" or similar. But you do get the impression things will be worked on.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 1:27 pmI'm still not happy about the "1," but I'll let it ride!![]()
Also good to see the defence still plays well without Forrester - nothing against him and it's been a pleasure to watch his renaissance, but it's good when we play well whoever's in the team.

Mint that. Hardly touched them for half an hour, before realising that we could play a higher line without suffering in behind. Suffocated them after that and completely took control.
When you consider we had some big players not in the line-up, it's looking very promising for the run-in. Easy to say it, but that's the standard now. Energy, Tempo, desire and above all, quality.
McAtee is showing us that he can play as a 9 and is looking really good
Morley after a quiet opening, was excellent. Don't remember him giving the ball away and looked fit and quick
Tutu was absolutely imperious. He's definitely considered a right attacker now and not a full back / wing back
Cogley was great again, as he has been under Schumacher
Everyone to a man did well. Icing on the cake was seeing Collins win a header against the CB for Randall to run onto who did well to get the assist
Randall winning slide tackles too.. Never thought I'd see the day!
So much to be confident about now

The 1 could be quite important as the three teams immediately above us currently have GDs of +18, +15, +15 to our +5. It would be heartbreaking if we missed out on the play offs because of the 5 we shipped at Stockport.

I get what you mean but tutu was playing as a left wing back last night….boltonboris wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 1:47 pmMint that. Fair - but if we miss the playoffs on goal difference, the missed opportunity wouldn't be those extra goals conceded there; it would be that we didn't flick Evatt there and then, and thereafter lost at home to Wigan, Barnsley and Charlton, along with only drawing home and away against the permanent drop-zone dwellers Cambridge. That's up to 13 points dropped...TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 1:51 pmIt would be heartbreaking if we missed out on the play offs because of the 5 we shipped at Stockport.

He said midweek, "we can't keep conceding one," and we were working hard on the defensive actions. So whilst he might skirt it on the back of a 3-1 v League leaders, I think all you have to do is watch the last couple of games and you can see it quite clearly. He might have mentioned it more had it been the only goal of the night. JDC, who I thought played really well, knew there was a fella free coz he looked at him in the build up and marked space behind Toals man. On another day it drops onto 6 yard and we can double up. Hindsight being wonderful thing, had he covered the wide man it drops over Toal's head and straight onto Alfie May, but on balance, I think I prefer us to trust Toal to pick up his dude or better still Forino to let it bounce outta play off him...but we're on split seconds there...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 1:42 pmFair enough. Anyone know if there's decent match highlights available anywhere please? And I don't mean the ones off Sky Sports.

Still think it was a ludicrous decision from McAtee to shoot and not square it across to Collins.........

I suspect you weren't in a small group mumbling "square it!"dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 7:11 pmStill think it was a ludicrous decision from McAtee to shoot and not square it across to Collins.........

There was no mumbling. More shrieking!!
When I watch it back I'm not entirely sure he hit it perfectly or the keeper covered himself in glory either, but they all count and a goal was the least he deserved for the shift he put in last night.
I reckon he is quickly becoming a fans favourite - he's so passionate and I love it how when he's been subbed off he's the first one steaming onto the pitch at the end to celebrate with the rest of them.

I am sure if you click the 2nd Couch in about 20 minutes there could be 90 minutes of history.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 6:38 pmAnyone know if there's decent match highlights available anywhere please? And I don't mean the ones off Sky Sports.

Finally up and running. Enjoy.

Watched the whole game again.
Need to say how good JDC has become. His passing and movement for the equaliser is superb. His defending all game was excellent. Can't really stick any blame on him for their goal as the whole defence was pulled out of position due to Thommo getting a little flat footed.
Would like to know his miles run as it must be on a par with Tutu.

He's a Walkden lad and whilst he didn't grow up supporting the Whites, a lot of his friends and extended family did. So it means a lot to him and he absolutely feels the pressure of that, which is why (in my opinion) he started as he did, where it was rushed and forced and things weren't coming off for him.dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:28 pmThere was no mumbling. It's the same for Coleman. It was a dream for him to play for us. His family are Bolton fans and his Mum used to get on the bar early at the New Inn in order to serve pints to thirsty whites before away coaches pick em up at daft AM (might still do!)
When they see/hear the fans get on them when they're local and have ties and links to the supporter base, it really does hurt them

Result seems to have had an effect on season ticket sales, sold 400+ daily since then. Up to around 6300 sold so far.

McAtee scored a great goal. He hit it well and surprised the keeper as well as myself. Collins would not have received that pass if he tried to make it. The defender was covering the angle. Watching the game back, McAtee worked his socks off all game. He deserves a lot of credit as does the supporting cast of JDC, Morley and Forino. They were also outstanding.dave the minion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:28 pmThere was no mumbling. More shrieking!!
