Taking Stock; A visit from the neighbours. V Hatters, Sat, 15th Mr. 12-30.
Hurrying away from a bad away day at the office, we badly need to stop the wobbles of yesterday and get back on track. Mere mention of Stockport's "now" manager Dave Challinor, is enough to get teeth grinding for some of us with bad memories of days gone by, but cool heads and determination is what we need now. That, and some aggressive play and better control all round can make us forget the blip. Losing to a penalty decision after four minutes is not the way to go. A win, and the past wil soon be history. Nobody wins everything, so rise up and march on....

It’s an absolutely massive game. As big as they come. I am worried about it. I do think it’s a different test to what we’ve faced thus far. Challinor is a good manager probably as good as Schuey. Tactically he’s on it. And his team are good. Forget it’s Stockport - I’d say there is little between the teams.
But they will come with the attitude that it’s everything for them. Big following and big game for them. But also they will see themselves as underdogs.
It’s all the same dangers we failed time and again under Evatt except unlike say Carlisle, Stockport are actually a good side that could without all that extra stuff come and beat us more times out of ten than we’d like to admit.
Big game with a lot of ingredients I personally am wary of. We’ve answered so many questions the last few weeks but this game for me has a few of the biggest ones that we will get answers to.

Just hope the hype stays with the fans and the team can ignore it and just see this as just another game (albeit one we must win) rather than a derby. It needs to be us that change the format or this will be a repeat of what's become the norm. At the risk of being boring, we need to attack in defence instead of sitting back and waiting for them to do it. Get at them and upset the apple carts from the off.
Oh, and hope we get a decent ref for a change, of course.....

Gotta be honest, I'm stuggling to recall the last one, where you were! You start the "must wins," earlier than Asda starts Christmas.
It's going to be a toughie, for sure. These are the games (allegedly) you want to be part of.

I'll looking forward to it - This is the point of it!
Hope we win, like.

Don’t get the rivalry thing to be honest. Not sure I know any Stockport fans although my MD’s lads both played for them and he watched them when they did.
But it feels like a big game. The sort we used to lose, but can now look forward to being competitive in. Horrid record against them, but records don’t concern me anymore.
Tuesday night dented my confidence a bit and it really could go any way, this. Not even going to make a predi…..

I think probably more of a rivalry for them than for us at this stage, but maybe one that will develop.boltonboris wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 6:26 amDon’t get the rivalry thing to be honest. There are, of course, multiple reasons that today is a big game, and chief amongst them for me is not wanting to lose twice in a season to a club that doesn’t even have a proper internet forum. Someone wake those lads up and tell them it’s 2025.

Yeah, used to be quite funny reading the Morecambe forum, going on about a derby. We're closer to Huddersfield.
Re: Taking Stock; A visit from the neighbours. V Hatters, Sat, 15th Mr. 12-30.
I quite like them actually geeing this up for a derby game. We're both North West and it adds a little bit of extra rivalry to the mix. It's an inflated rivalry but still it makes things more interesting. Same goes for Morecambe. Stick that North West title on it and it becomes a bit of a derby. Stick some bad results in the mix and things start getting interesting.

Southwood
Toal Forrester Murphy (sigh)
Sheehan Morley
JDC Randall Tutu
McAtee Collins
Randall brought in for fresh legs and his superior passing ability, which should hopefully help us to maintain more control of the match than on Tuesday.

Isn't this what football's all about. Losers sometimes win, winners sometimes lose. Que Sera.!

Five changes - Baxter, Forino, Cogs, JOT, Randall all start

is JOT at left-back? Can't see a back three there unless Thomason's LCB?

Schumacher keeps us guessing each game that's for sure!
I reckon 4-4-2 narrow diamond with Randall at the 10. Thomason the 6.
