We’d probably be able to get a fee for Southwood. We’re obviously massively jumping the gun here, though.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:31 amThere is an argument as to whether we can make savings by having Luke as back up keeper.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:37 amNot disagreeing with your view but is it telling that he hasn’t been loaned above the sixth tier yet? Six to four is quite a jump. He’s not that young either - he’s technically now overage, although that matters less for keepers.
Not to decry his ability, and successive managers have trusted him around the first team, just urging caution. I’d be happy for him to go on loan to say Salford or Accy if we get the sense he’d learn a lot; I’d be a lot less confident if Baxter left and Hutch became Southwood’s deputy.

All this Hutchinson chat may be redundant, as he's apparently out of contract in the summer.

His displays should ensure a contract over Coleman and sent out on loan next season (assuming Coleman is out of contract at the end of the year)

From the little I've seen of him he's looked competent without being panicky.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 5:16 pmHis displays should ensure a contract over Coleman and sent out on loan next season (assuming Coleman is out of contract at the end of the year)
Coleman looks panicky so I suspect Hutchinson would be ahead of him in terms of future contract.
I'd imagine Hutchinson would want a contract elsewhere. First team football is unlikely at Bolton and we'd be looking to get better prospects. Not saying he's bad but more showing that if he was a stand out he'd be getting more game time than he's currently getting

Aye, there's an argument – there's usually an argument for anything if you try hard enough - but let's not forget that last summer the chairman named the lack of back-up for Baxter as a primary reason for non-promotion. Again, that can be argued either way but it would be a volte-face to place trust in someone last seen playing for Marine.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:31 amThere is an argument as to whether we can make savings by having Luke as back up keeper.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:37 amNot disagreeing with your view but is it telling that he hasn’t been loaned above the sixth tier yet? Yep I hear all that. Schumacher may have different views than the last guy and also may need to find savings to invest in other areas. Equally it may not even be possible as southwood may want to be here and fight for his place.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:05 pmAye, there's an argument – there's usually an argument for anything if you try hard enough - but let's not forget that last summer the chairman named the lack of back-up for Baxter as a primary reason for non-promotion. I think that was the excuse given by Evatt, and sadly accepted by our chairman. I really think it was a combination of lots of things involving Evatt shortcomings.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 12:05 pmbut let's not forget that last summer the chairman named the lack of back-up for Baxter as a primary reason for non-promotion.
