A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.

An annual visit to fish, chips and ozone land at Blackpool by the sea . No doubt a spicy affair that's not just salt and vinegar. As ever, a win is the target and Mr Schumacher's own target will be not wanting to accept less. .All very Que Sera so on with the motley..... :Jedi:

Blackpool have only won one home game all season against a team not currently in the drop zone. That was Exeter, currently 16th.

Whenever they've hosted all the teams currently in the top 11 they've conceded at least 2, sometimes 3.

Apart from a December win at Reading, who have some issues to deal with, they haven't beaten anyone currently in the top 10 at home or away since September. Even on this recent decent run they've lost to Stockport and Orient.

I know they're bogeymen and all but they're not good and we can definitely beat them.

In my head I’ve got us making the playoffs if we win on Saturday. Not that I’m at all confident of a win.

I presume Toal will be missing? Reasonably big blow if so, but I’m not too concerned about Forino stepping in. Elsewhere I’d suspect that Sheehan might need a rest after his international exertions.

Baxter

Forrester Forino Johnston

Morley Thomason

JDC CMG JOT

Blackpool weren’t very good last season. But beat us. I’m not really expecting much in the next two and feel our season could well be over in effect by Wednesday next week. It doesn’t feel like a season we make a late charge to me it feels like one that will fizzle out after a bit of promise.

I mean clearly be great to be wrong.

But I will also say this. I actually think it would be for the best. We need work in the summer. Schumacher needs time to assess the squad and build something that imo can win this league next season - that should be the aim and I think we have many of the pieces in place now but need some work on the squad. If that happens we’d be better placed to then build a bit more to stay in the championship.

Making the play offs this year and losing would take time away and also ultimately be a bit useless. Of course we all want to make the play offs and win them and nobody would say no to that least of all me but I do see a downside to that in terms of where the squad is at for competing at the next level. I think we need a few windows to be ready for that.

Unlike last year, the club (not just the playing side) has got budgets for next year based on both a promotion and staying down.

Sounds like it’s sorted now but one has to wonder what was going on in the club back then.

Not sure if I'll get to see either of our next two games due to being in dock. Already spent a day and night in Royal Bolton this week for the first time in my life. Que Sera Sera however, so, time will tell. I'll do my best not to miss anything.
Moving on; Steve Bruce's Blackpool stand as much chance of causing upset as Birmingham do in this unpredictable season, so on guard. Being North West and Lancashire, Blackpool, Stockport and Wigan are all more Derbies than the Yorkshire lot and all as likely to cause upset. The longer we don't score, the more chance they will, so offence is as much a priority as defence.

After Blackpool, Wigan is our only away game in the next three, so it's really critical we strike here and now. Forward march in the spirit of Super Kev...... :davies:

Hope you're soon better TD and a Wanderers win helps that recovery :D

Can't say I'm particularly optimistic for this one given our last two and our record here but it's Wanderers and you just never know.

Tomorrow's relevant fixtures...
Charlton-Huddersfield (12.30)
Stockport-Burton (12.30)
Reading-Posh (15.00)
Orient don't play (they won last night)

Tough to know who to root for in Charlton-Huddersfield. Obviously, Huddersfield losing (or drawing) would mean we could leapfrog them back into the playoffs later in the afternoon. But it would also put us a yawning 8pts behind Charlton (albeit with two games in hand) in the fourth-place, home-semi-second play-off slot.

If we want that slot, we could actually use an away win; that would also be two straight losses for Nathan Jones' Addicks, and following a 3-0 dicking by Posh with a defeat to a promotion rival might be bad for the often-fragile joie de vivre at the Valley. Then again, that would be two wins in two for Huddersfield's interim manager, and we could do without them getting good again...

(As usual - simple answer is "probably a draw" and more importantly "just win your own games")

Thanks all for the good wishes. Looks like I'll be at home for the couch Saturday, not sure about Tuesday yet but it looks okay as my visits are for tests at specific times and not general waiting which is diabolical. (was six hours at A & E Tuesday plus ambulance time)

Anyway, enough of me, get amongst those seasider candy-flossers and grab the points.
