So no point appealing that. Not a chance that is overturned. Sheehan not covering and regardless he has a clear goalscoring opportunity himself. You’d have to argue Sheehan could get round to block the shot without the foul. Which he clearly cannot and would not.

Came home from Blackpool, disappointed once again. Think we deserved a point but we really don't help ourselves. 2 poor goals to concede and nowhere near clinical enough when we were near their box.

Forgot to say @Mar that throw in aberration you referred to, was Carlise away last season. Outrageous to allow their goal to stand.

Yeah but there is no keeper in the goal. So he’s effectively the goalkeeper. That’s why it’s a red. If Baxter was in the nets obviously wouldn’t be.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 7:05 pmYou're ignoring CMG?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 7:00 pmSo no point appealing that. In effect pretend there is a keeper in net and take CMG out - that’s the scenario - it’s a red. Sadly but it is.
Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
BBC has it as two yellows straight after each other. Could be wrong but could also be for two pulls. Happened against Arsenal the other year. Would be harsh but with no keeper doubt a straight red would be overturned.

He cancelled the yellow I’m pretty sure he did the cross arm cancel thing.

Not really amazed we lost because we're where we are on merit, not bad luck. No magic potions or dream dust, just that at this level we aren't any better than six or seven teams and that's where we lie. We defend (badly at best) way too high up the pitch and offer no threat up front so why the surprise? As for Randall? fifteen/twenty minutes pitch time is hardly proving much, give him some time.
Big change of attitude needed; I'm not looking for somebody to blame, that's the easy game, but we need some realism and pretty quick or just get used to being losers. We love our team, but to coin a musical phrase, to the neutrals Bolton are "just another brick in the wall". We also need to accept that arguing with referee is a sure way to disaster.
Amen.

Oh, and by the way, thank you as ever for sharing the comfort of the sofa. Been a while since I've tried it, but nice to see it remains as comfortable and welcoming as ever

Morley was our best player on the pitch. Its unfortunate that he had to take a bullet for us in the end. Our problems defensively continue to haunt us. Sides do not have to work hard to score on us each game. Lets not fool ourselves, our defenders just are not good enough at this level. They prove that week after week.
We have a massive job to do in the summer. The players I would stick with are JDC, Baxter, Southwood, Tutu, Morley, Thomason and Dempsey. The others are up for grabs.

I see where you are coming from with the list but….irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 3:32 amMorley was our best player on the pitch. Collins is our top scorer. He got double figures last season too. He needs a proper partner who is an actual striker. Whilst I can accept he sometimes isn’t as good as others he’s shown that he can get goals for us and enough goals that any replacement would be big bucks.
I love Thomason. He’s one of the few I like in this group as he genuinely is maybe one of the few who will give 100% week in week out no question. But he has these horrible wobbly periods of form. Like not just a dip but where he becomes unable to find a simple pass. Can we carry that? I don’t know.
Dempsey is always injured. Maybe that’s harsh but I don’t think we can continually carry that. Obviously a good player when fit but again does he fit in the new way we play with Schumacher? He’s another Evatt player who for me is neither a 6/8/10. He can play all those but is he great as any?
Tutu for me has been one of the worst in the last few games. Failed to really produce when it mattered. So not convinced I’m afraid. It’s one thing putting in a brilliant twenty minutes against Crawley or when we are underdogs v Brum. But he’s one we looked to to help us win the last two games and he went hiding. For me that’s a big worry. It’s symptomatic of what we’ve got so any player who does that scares me.

Collins - haven't we just turfed a 20 goal striker for a 20 goal striker? Sorta net zero?
McAtee has 4 league goals which is currently 6 fewer than Vic in 35 games last season.
I don't dislike our current players particularly, but you could make a case that none were irreplaceable, and the last few transfer windows have been quite frankly baffling.
Think Schumacher said we have too big a squad. Hopefully he can fix what needs fixing. It's looking like Plymouth, Luton and Derby might be rejoining us, so we probably need a step change rather than incremental tinkering, starting with "how not to concede goals."

Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
IMO Schumacher needs to be looking at players with decent experience of playing at championship level, not League 1 players with potential which is what appeared to be Evatt's strategy.
Even Blackpool (who's wage budget will be less than ours) had a few with more championship experience than we had. With the players that we have when you look at the teams and level they previously played at, 8th in League 1 is about right. I know many say we need physicality & pace which we desperately so, we also need a couple of experienced championship level players with leadership skills and nous, even if these players are 32/33.
Look at Ashley Fletcher for example, premiership & championship experience - we never seem to go for this type of 'proven' player its always a younger player with potential i.e. a Lolos or Victor. I know Ennis isn't prolific but he's got decent championship experience.

Ideally yep. It depends on what budget is available.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 10:47 amIMO Schumacher needs to be looking at players with decent experience of playing at championship level, not League 1 players with potential which is what appeared to be Evatt's strategy.

Sharon has completely wrecked this season for me and for all the people who were angry that I vented over the last two summers…we are still stuck in league one which was my fear having spent a lot of money. What I was worried about is exactly what has happened - and it was easily predictable.
Sharon now has to find more backing for Schumacher. Financial backing. Because she owes the fans that after dreadfully failing the club for the last two seasons.
I’m pretty excited for Schumacher and the new DoF guy. We feel on the right track. But that won’t matter if they aren’t properly backed with money. And the fact Evatt and Markham were allowed to waste so much was pointed out by a number of us - in complete frustration. So it’s down to the owners now for me. Schuey needs scope to make big changes. And it’s going to cost a lot. But that’s their own fault.

We’re odd at the moment: not playing badly—indeed I thought we were good up to the final third—but we are so easy to score against. That rugged back line under Darby has disappeared, and with it, the fast out-balls to Tutu, McAtee, and Collins, that have essentially engendered all of our recent goals.
Won’t be watching on Tuesday. I can’t bear it.

I don't have last season as a "fault in budget." We were top with less than half a season to play. That's not "budgets" fault. I'm also not convinced Evatt hasn't had backing this season. Sure he isn't buying a £10m striker, but that's a complete outlier.
Where I do take issue is not recognising any time between June and September that shit wasn't working. But I think she's been ill advised.

We are playing poorly. Any game with a conceded goal is poor. Any game with two or more is atrocious, irrespective of what happens between the boxes or (for me) whether we win 3-2. You aren't going up conceding 60-70 goals in a season.BorsdaneWhite wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:08 amWe’re odd at the moment: not playing badly—indeed I thought we were good up to the final third—but we are so easy to score against. She certainly has to take a lot of the blame for this season in regards to leaving the Evatt sacking so late in the January window (after not getting rid of him after Wembley).BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:05 amSharon has completely wrecked this season for me and for all the people who were angry that I vented over the last two summers…we are still stuck in league one which was my fear having spent a lot of money. We've gone backwards this season with the Evatt signings - almost all teams who go up from League One have physicality, nous & experienced leaders, scattered with one or two decent prem & championship loans but can play decent football. They are normally quite organised and solid at the back, have some ball winners in midfield and have pace & a threat up front.
I'm not actually sure what the current Bolton team are in regards to how they play and what they stand for - they are not really anything at the moment, it's all a bit meh....IMO we have far to many standard mid table league 1 players and not enough game changers and reliable 7/8 out of 10 every week players.
