Collins, Morley and Baxter are probably the only three I'd be gutted to see go. The rest, there are a few more I like, but Schumacher should have free reign to rebuild.
Particularly Toal, Santos, Sheehan, McAtee (though that's more about his attitude than contribution so far which has been mixed). I complain about Cogley but he's a good player. Tutu is a right back. A very good one so he has games where he's unplayable going forward but not surprising he's in and out.

Yeah, we heard a lot or times down the Evatt/Markham years, that we weren't even looking for the type of player where you're buying midfield nous and consistency. Not the way to build a sustainable club...obvs the way to build a sustainable club is by staying in L1.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:34 amShe certainly has to take a lot of the blame for this season in regards to leaving the Evatt sacking so late in the January window (after not getting rid of him after Wembley).BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:05 amSharon has completely wrecked this season for me and for all the people who were angry that I vented over the last two summers…we are still stuck in league one which was my fear having spent a lot of money. What I was worried about is exactly what has happened - and it was easily predictable.
We've gone backwards this season with the Evatt signings - almost all teams who go up from League One have physicality, nous & experienced leaders, scattered with one or two decent prem & championship loans but can play decent football. They are normally quite organised and solid at the back, have some ball winners in midfield and have pace & a threat up front.
I'm not actually sure what the current Bolton team are in regards to how they play and what they stand for - they are not really anything at the moment, it's all a bit meh....IMO we have far to many standard mid table league 1 players and not enough game changers and reliable 7/8 out of 10 every week players.
I don't think we need to sell every player, we do need to remove the muddled thinking and I agree with the sentiment about consistency. I'd take a JDC for a Randall most of the time. Randall is looking like that tiara on the Shire horse, which even a cursory glance at the Posh forum would have revealed. But then there's fans and there's people who know football...

We also need to take the kid gloves off. If you want to play for Bolton wanderers in league one you better be willing to accept the fans will want to and rightly expect to win most weeks. These players have had a long time here. Under now two different managers they’ve failed to produce the results that would be expected and demanded and eventually show the same repeated failings over and over.
Either they simply aren’t good enough as players or their mentality is wrong. It’s one or the other or both. I think it’s the former with a few definitely in the latter category too. Just too many who are a bit too soft when the going gets tough and the pressure is on. Soon as we hit the top 6 as an example we’ve collapsed.
I don’t think there should be anymore leeway given. They’ve not performed. Many cost a lot of money. Fans have every right to not be very happy with them. They’ve let the fans down far too many times yet had tremendous support.
They are a team who will be very quickly forgotten and rightly so.

That's Wigan's captain and centre half *not* getting sent off yesterday (so not being suspended v us). They're absolute clowns the lot of them.

For what it costs to go and watch these games we have to demand better. I think in fairness the decision on Morley was the correct one. However that’s as red a card as you will ever see. How incompetent do you have to be to not give one?
Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
I was only able to half watch the first 30 minutes on my phone, and then saw the highlights. It seems another fine margin game that we’ve come out on the wrong side of. Very frustrating, because the quality of the teams in and around the playoffs is not particularly high.
I’ve written the season off now, but I hope Dempsey might be able to make his comeback on Tuesday, because I feel as though he could make a real difference. Win out from here and you never know.

I've had the remainder of the season down as Schumacher having time to figure out what he's got and what he can do with it. Got a bit of hope up when we had the run, but that has fizzled out and I'm back to the figuring stuff out phase again. The time is valuable for Schumacher as I'm sure he will know what he needs now to have a proper go next season. I'm sure summer will consist of unlearning the Evatt ball tippy tappy comfort zone for those that remain. Hopefully some defending properly as a team too.

I was there after about gameday 4! If we've just had our little wobble, which was more likely than not, you never know...
But agree entirely, Schumacher is still on "free hit," for me until we start next season.

Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
We're two points off the play offs and Reading and Huddersfield are both hardly flying either. We potted the last manager because we weren't good enough and performances have definitely improved. That should get much remain the target.
If we didn't, it's obviously far too early to start throwing around the word "failure" but it would be a mild disappointment (with lots of caveats and of course the benefit of him getting a look at the squad before the summer). Play off defeat would be about par for me.

Cracking day out was had, despite the result. I thought we played pretty well. But when you concede goals with such ease like we do, it's almost impossible to go away from home and win games and pick up points.
Unbelievable miss by Mendes Gomes in the second half and their keeper made a couple of outstanding saves.
Thomasson is playing like the non-league player we signed at the moment. Maybe the armband is a real burden on our players. I'm not sure what the solution is, but he's playing like a donkey at the moment and seems to have lost some pace and lost some fight. A real shame. Hope this is temporary

Just watched the highlights. No complaints on the Morley red but f*ck me their second goal is so far offside. He's never on, and it's blatant even from the halfway line view. Clowns!

He is onside, Johnston is playing him on side. He could have stepped up but he didn't.
There are some views about clearly showing this.

Perhaps GT knew his role under Evatt, knew exactly what to do and when to do it. Under Schumacher things are changing and he's struggling to keep up a consistent set of standards. It's strange as he seems to go from being a 9 out of 10 to a 4 out of 10.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 9:46 amCracking day out was had, despite the result. I thought we played pretty well. We've got quite the player there, just need to find a way of keeping those levels up.

Sorry I don't see it with Thomason, hard working lad who always gives 100% but lacks the required quality, pace and skill to be a top playerMar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 11:27 amPerhaps GT knew his role under Evatt, knew exactly what to do and when to do it. Are we certain of that? He’s 24 and last season was his only one when he was consistently good.Mar wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 11:27 amPerhaps GT knew his role under Evatt, knew exactly what to do and when to do it. Whilst his attitude his clearly exemplary, I struggle to see him kicking on to the next level due to a lack of either athleticism or technical brilliance.

Without wanting to appear too negative, I’m also struggling a bit with Schön. Busy and energetic, but seems to lack quality. Especially in the attacking third.
Another player I like, but is running out of credit with Schumacher I imagine. Been in and out of the side under the new manager, but when he’s being given opportunities, he’s not taking them.
He needs to improve and find some consistency as I do believe he can be a good player

Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
I think you could say that about a number of our players when it comes to consistency. They're not a dislikeable bunch for me, but this time last season, folks were saying we might just need 1 or 2 (call it 3 or 4 for cash) - to be "mid-table championship." It feels like a long way from there at the moment. Feels more like mid-upper table L1. I reckon like pretty much all managers, we just need to give Schumacher the window and and let him work out who fits best for his "plan."
Re: A tall order. Away to Blackpool , Saturday Mar 29th 3-0' clock.
Yeah I'm not convinced. Like his hustle, but I don't think he's good enough defensively to be a left back or going forward to be a cut inside winger off the right. He's more of a LW in a 442 which no-one plays anymore, or a LWB, and Schumacher doesn't seem to fancy him there. Hopefully something clicks.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 3:08 pmWithout wanting to appear too negative, I’m also struggling a bit with Schön. Busy and energetic, but seems to lack quality.
