Johnston isn't big enough or physical enough to be a CB in a back 4 IMO, he gets knocked off the ball quite easily - he's not a commanding big tall central defender and if ? SS is going to play with a back 4 next season we need 2 big, tall, physical CB's

I refer you to Mike Whitlow. Not saying you're wrong in Johnston's instance, but as a general rule I disagree you have to be a big monster as much as it can help. In Johnston's favour he does at least scrap rather than shrug and point like our forwards.

Whitlow wasn’t tall but I wouldn’t want to fight him in a back alley. Simon Charlton, perhaps? Anyways I think Johnston has more grit than most, particularly these days.

He may like a scrap, but he still gets knocked off the ball too easily IMO and isn't strong enough or commanding enough in the air, an example being Collins goal for Lincoln the other week.

I don't think you can keep both Johnston and Forrester and not be tied to a back 3. I'd look to move both on, even though I quite like both. Of all our defenders tbf, only JDC can claim to be hard done to if shown the door.

Was about to say this. Johnston is a scrapper - he has mistakes in him but he also isn’t a wallflower scared of the physical. It also depends on the rest of your team. If you midfield and full backs are all small then your centre halves become critical - but like whitlow played in a physically robust side with height so it mattered less.

Johnston with the right partner I think would be ok.

I also think he’d make an excellent left back in a normal team that isn’t flogging their full backs down the line all the time. But if he were to play there we’d need a more attacking option also as I feel he’d be the option when you need to be more robust.

Inwood stays in, Johnston comes in, Forino out. Could be a back four unless Schon is LWB, which I don't think Schumacher has tried much, if at all.

Dacres-Cogley is on the bench with Jones starting. Does that hint back three? In that case, it would have to be Schon at RWB...

The Three Amigos up front. With something to prove.

Forino might be on his way according to talk in the ground. We will see.

Guess it’s natural for these rumours following non inclusion - which may well be nonsense.

Well, we need to make space...

I mean it might be 2+2=5 but also could be true. I'd keep him myself, but let's see and frankly hey-ho. As I say, frankly apart from Morley there's no player I'd be sad to see go from both standpoints - tactically and emotionally.

A sellable asset. Probably sounds about right we cash in to fund transfers. He stays then possible captain.

We don't benefit from playing him today. Might aswell try others out so as to find out what they're all about with a view to next season.

Tuesdays announcement of who goes will be interesting.

No bench place for Santos, as he seemed to have mentally checked out a while ago. On to other things presumably.

Sounds like nonsense to me.

He's one I'd keep but his injury record means that we're not exactly likely to get a huge bid.

Ha, classic. He keeps getting there so that's good. But keeps missing them so that's bad.

Yeah, be interesting to see if he does the post-match walk-and-wave.

Feck me and another. Great ball. Baaaad miss. Schon played well for me last week, his best game. But if you're going to play there you have to score those. Lack of confidence.
