Awful. These players on the whole simply aren’t fit to wear a Bolton shirt. Never seen so many duck out of tackles before.

Finishing 8th is about par for this team. Thomasson, Matete, Johnston and Murphy were the best out there for us today. Missed 3 absolute sitters. Even with this soft team of ours we create lots of chances in this division. But we also concede a lot. God knows what Schuey can do about this in the summer without cash.

Surely as per Schumacher Inwood was the best out there? Thought our midfield were pretty poor today.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:23 pmFinishing 8th is about par for this team. I was at Charlton today so missed our game, although having read this thread, there aren’t too many regrets.
Charlton going from 16th last season to 4th this year shows what can be achieved when a good coach is afforded time. I’ve no doubt that Sharon et al will be patient with Schuey, and hopefully we’ll see a similar uptick to the Addicks next time around.

Schuey was being generous re Inwood. I thought he struggled a bit more today than the last time. Got caight on the ball a couple times, his defensive header was a contribution to the goal against us...notwithstanding, he is very promising and look forward to seeing more of him next season.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:35 pmSurely as per Schumacher Inwood was the best out there? Another very good and honest post match from SS, he's clearly not happy and knows exactly what's needed - it won't be easy shifting the deadwood but I suspect that we may have at least 6 or 7 new starters next season. Watching his face and his body language on the side lines today, I also suspect that he can't wait to tell at least 4 or 5 of the players not out of contract that they are not in his plans next season, he's possibly even relishing it.
He's spot on that today sums our season up, and that as a team we are sloppy.

I agree Inwood wasn't good today, I thought the best players were Thomason & Matete. To be honest I don't think that any of the young lads are ready for next season - IMO they need to be loaned out in League 2.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 7:02 pmSchuey was being generous re Inwood. He seemed angry but, encouragingly, determined
I agree it seems he has a firm idea of what our deficiencies are. Hopefully his assessment is correct and he has the opportunity to bring in the qualities we need.

Stevenage are a handful up front and he handled himself well I thought. The couple of times being caught on the ball weren’t entirely his fault as we were playing some ridiculous stuff back there that was making Schumacher wince on the sidelines.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 7:02 pmSchuey was being generous re Inwood. He looked today as good as any of our supposed first choice defenders have this season - not out of place at all. He should be a part of it next season imo.

That's not as difficult a task as you may think. Our first choice defenders are not very good.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 8:01 pm

Realistically he’s probably going to be limited to cup games next season, so would it not make more sense to send him out on loan?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 8:01 pmStevenage are a handful up front and he handled himself well I thought. Re: Pointing the way. Stevenage at home Sat, 3rd May 3-0'clock
What today showed I think - if it needed showing is that we aren’t much if any better than Stevenage. A number of their players would have got in our side today. A decent number.
This might be the biggest rebuild since Allardyce arrived and had to sell half a team. Only he had a fair few worth keeping but I don’t think Schumacher does.
Going to be a big big job.

Players can't drink at the EOSA. The club staff are making up for it though.

We’ve had a bad run, and this squad has some glaring holes, but those holes can easily be filled over the summer. I’d be fairly confident that we’re a good window away from competing for the title next season.
