We're in for "non-league sensation" Charlie Warren, a 20 year old left-footed winger who has scored 33 goals for Felixstowe & Walton (eighth tier) this season. Apparently, he had a trial with us in February.

I’m all for these sorts of signings. We should be taking some younger players from non league.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 6:51 pmThink I mighta just heard Insano quietly weeping....TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 6:47 pmRumour klaxon!

Just that if he’s being signed to develop great, if we are signing him to be a first team choice then maybe recalibrate expectations for next season.
No weeping here. He sounds a prospect.

He’s playing at what, the 8th tier? That’s a much lower standard of football than what most of the lads we pick up for the Bs will have been playing. I presume he’d be sent straight out to a NL North club or something.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 6:47 pmRumour klaxon!

Will the Bs have been playing youth football with lads around the same age? This kid has been playing against "men".

I think Rico and Geth going pretty much highlight the end of an era. Mainstays in all that was good in our promotion, cup win and play off runs. Sure both trailed off, but I would suspect that was due to lack of investment in our defensive line compared to the rest of the squad. Rico on his day was top class, Geth could rarely be faulted for effort and was a great club representative.
I'm grateful for both and the time for them to move on is right. I'm hoping Santos bears no ill will towards the club and fans, he'll be remembered fondly.

BAAAAARNSLEY
Released: Josh Benson, Sam Cosgrove, Jonathan Lewis, Aiden Marsh, Conor McCarthy, Donovan Pines
Returning to parent club following loan spell: Joe Gauci, Dexter Lembikisa, Clement Rodrigues
To be offered new contracts: Luke Alker, Aaron Atkinson, Kieren Flavell, Kieran Graham, Stephen Humphrys, Ziggy Kozluk, Bayley McCann, Tom Senior
Contract option activated: Connor Barratt
FLEEEEEETWOOOOOD
Released: Ryan Broom, Danny Mayor, Callum Dolan
Loan players returning to parent clubs: Louie Marsh (Sheffield United), Rhys Bennett (Manchester United), Kobei Moore (Aston Villa), Brandon Cover (Leicester City)
Contract option exercised on: Ronan Coughlan, Phoenix Patterson, Ryan Graydon, Finley Potter
Contracts offered to: Jay Lynch, Harrison Holgate
At least three players Schuey managed at Plymouth. Cosgrove we know all about and it wouldn't stun me to see him considered. Mayor's 35 in October so that might be unlikely. Broom - 29 in September - impressed me at Posh and Plymouth as a versatile right-sider, so it's been a mild surprise to watch him drift via Cheltenham and Fleetwood to this situation.

Schumacher has been reading on here hasn’t he?
The gaslighting is over. Please god he manages to find the right group of players - because he absolutely says the right things.“I spoke to a friend of mine a few weeks ago, and he said some of your players just pop up in different areas of the pitch, which can cause teams a problem, but can be a problem for you if and when you lose the ball, which quite often happens.
“It can all go off-script, which we don't really want. I want to encourage freedom in the final third, but to get there it has got to be built from a structure. Sometimes our structure goes a little bit missing.
“It isn’t so much indiscipline from the players as just a bit of a lack of structure. It is where you need to be on passing the ball, are you always keeping things simple. I'm big for that, rather than making the hardest pass or taking four touches when you only needed one, which we do quite a lot.”

On the rumours thus far...
• Sean Roughan – although described as a free, Lincoln would be entitled to six-figure compensation, with Lincoln folk saying it'd be the high end of six figures. If (if) that's true, it casts doubt on it. It's always possible we're being used to bring suitors forward.
• Charlie Warren - the young non-league goalscoring winger - Iles thinks they're after him for the Bs, although that wouldn't mean he couldn't vault into the first team. He's underage for a couple of years yet, I think.
• Besides Ennis we're also linked with Dungannon Swifts forward Tomas Galvin.

Ever a disciple of hope, I'm trying not to be hypocritical, but I'm brushing up on that old song (Four Seasons?) "Let's hang on to what we've got, cos we haven't got a lot".......Football is actually a very simple game usually complicated by folk not playing it.

We need to change because what we’ve got hasn’t been good enough to achieve what the owners want….TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 9:12 amEver a disciple of hope, I'm trying not to be hypocritical, but I'm brushing up on that old song (Four Seasons?) Conor Bradley played for Dungannon Swifts; it's a sign!

Not a chance Roughan would be high six figures - Lincoln are a Cat 3 academy, and he only moved there when he was 17. It’d be somewhere between £100-200k.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 8:52 amOn the rumours thus far...

I think it’s more likely we don’t land him because he has more attractive offers on the table (I notice Hearts are also linked).

I had a nosey on Barnsley's Twitter feed. To a man, they all gave Cosgrove pelters and said he'd been stealing a living. I knew his stats weren't all that but still a surprise to see how unpopular the bloke was. Someone who always looked the part against us (horror tackle on Eoin aside)

Ah, cheers bud. Also he does seem to have played more as an LCB, which is potentially useful but not really what we need (unless Johnston's off) – and even if he's not the disputed 5ft9in, he's not towering.The_Gun wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 9:50 amNot a chance Roughan would be high six figures - Lincoln are a Cat 3 academy, and he only moved there when he was 17. Aye I think he enjoyed playing against us and we feared him but he's really not been at all prolific, except in Schuey's Plymouth promotion season.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 10:27 amI had a nosey on Barnsley's Twitter feed. Even then, he'd scored 5 of his 8 league goals by mid-Feb and didn't get any after February. Also worth noting he was subbed on for 20 of his 33 league appearances (and subbed off for 8 that he did start).
I do think we need a muscular, line-knitting No.9 - and I would hope we have a variety of weapons - but I'm not at all sure he's the one. Of Schuey's former Plymouth charges likely to be available, I'd prefer Ennis - and Jordan Houghton.
I'd also like two or three others from Stoke - freebie Jordan Thompson, who can play DM or LB; potential loanee Nathan Lowe, whose goals helped Walsall excel before they flopped; and potential loanee keeper Tommy Simkin, also excellent for the Saddlers even as they've slumped. But I guess that depends on how well we get on with the Stoke DoF, so let's hope it's not the same guy who drummed Schumacher out of the Potteries and was himself drummed out of Bolton. Oh bugger.

PLYMOUTH, then.
Released: Ben Waine, Saxon Earley, Will Jenkins Davies, Josh Bernard.
Loan expired: Michael Obafemi, Darko Gyabi, Nikola Katic, Muhamed Tijani, Tymoteusz Puchacz.
Out of contract, offered new contract: Jordan Houghton, Mustapha Bundu, Jack Matthews.
Shame about Houghton. Of course we could counter-offer, but he seems settled. We move on...
