It just wouldn't be Bolton if we didn't give 'em one back.

Can we blame Santos & Baxter for the goals?

Works for me. We should get rid.

Only caught brief snatches of this one, but we looked a good side (although Luton looked fecking shite). Hopefully all the lads we've offered contracts to sign them, and then we get some decent loans sorted next season.

Who is our number 2? He’s looked decent in the brief snatches I’ve seen.
Oliver Smith
Cheers, I only figured that out when he came off. He’s the other lad, alongside Big Dave, who has already signed a pro deal?
Dallimore (keeper) and Hogan (centre-back) I think. Although I think most of them have been offered deals now. Keeper that has just come on is getting released so a bit of a bittersweet moment for him.
You're right between you, according to the official site. Club has triggered options on Hogan and Dallimore, as jmjhb says, while Smith and Big Dave "secured their futures".
https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/farewell-rico-and-geth
...Nine members of the Whites’ B Team squad are also being released, with options taken up on the contracts of goalkeeper Jack Dallimore and defender Sean Hogan, who ended the season on the bench with the first team.

Seven of Wanderers’ double-winning Youth Team squad have been offered their first professional deals, with defender Oliver Smith and striker David Abimbola – who finished the season with four first-team appearances – already securing their futures at the club.

Offered Professional Contract: Jamie Grayson, Harley Irwin, Daeshon Lawrence, Harry Leigh, Conor Lewis, Emile Oliver, Harrison Rice

Must be me, but that was never a seven goal performance. If the opponents had taken their chances (because their passing game was miles ahead of ours), we may well have lost. Four of ours from headers, a goalie Horlicks and two scuffles against a poor defence gave me a totally false end product. I'm actually a bit amazed at that crazy score being satisfactory. Their side was as Youth Alliance level as ours, yet physically made us look like St Trinians girls school wimps (no, not even that tough actually). They still scored two pretty soft goals at the death.

If that was anything to go by, and you may scoff if you wish, but we need to get some new blood in a hurry in the first eleven before we even talk progress. Promotion and play-offs are El Dorado dreams. Order a barrow load of Spinach and send for Popeye. :whack:

Sorry but I didn’t see it that way at all……

And I’m very confused what this has to do with the first team?

Something about methods, and all the talk about "Are you buying into it with us?" and the Youth being the future Bolton Wanderers apprentices etc. But again, Que Sera Sera. Time will tell. ae:)

I can see what you're saying to an extent, mate. It sorta didn't feel like a 7 goal win. Overall, I did think it was a comfortable win. I'm delighted we scored from our strength in headers. I don't think they made us look anything like St Trinians. Man for man, I thought we were half a foot taller and a stone heavier.

Yeah I thought it was a bit men against boys and we were the men. Doesn’t necessarily mean we had the best technical players but I’m very tired about that notion anyway. We beat them comfortably and I think would if the game was played another 10 times win most if not all.

End of the day physical specimens at this age are more likely to make it as first team options. That is just the way it is - they just have more chance.

Those games aren't really about the team, it's can you prepare players to have a career in football. Sort of park the result, we've got 4 or 5 you'd think would get league or conference loans next year. That's far better than we've had for a while. Plus they've had a few big days too. Good on them.

(I don't think any are ready to be in the first team squad, it wouldn't be best for them or us. Go and play next year )

Blimey, keep it light

The lads just won a cup in glorious style after a hard season, I don’t understand the need to form a queue of chip-pissers

I agree. A fantastic achievement and you can tell they all absolutely loved it. Worked incredibly hard.

Having an opinion (nothing more than that, surely amongst friends?) is the food and drink of forums, otherwise, why bother ? So far, I see only one, and he's in my mirror. Que Sera Sera. ae:)

^^ Not sure I saw a queue, either. I remember in u16 rugby, we ran 100 points past one team. Everyone was delightes, but the coaching focus for the next few weeks was how we'd contrived to let them score 12 and what we needed to tighten up. It's not "chip pissing," it's setting the bar high to try and excel.

Aye, alright. You do you; that's your right. Your right doesn't mean you're right. :P

Me, I reckon it's sunny day and a brilliant bunch of youngsters representing the club I love have had a very successful season. I'm going to enjoy it a while before I point out that the path to professional football is a brutal funnel of failure and anyway, all careers are inevitably followed by death.

Well done the lads. Have a good summer. :pissed:

....and two goals against, so room to improve and help better the chances of not being on the released list in 12/24 months.
