The scoreline isn’t that important, but the positivity around that group is still a small ray of sunshine poking through at a club shrouded in grey cloud right now.

Given the decimation of our academy in recent years, it’s close to miraculous that we now look to have multiple lads who seemingly have a good chance of making it as pros. Most of them will fall by the wayside, but I’m looking forward to following their progress, and I hope the club keeps improving the coverage given to our kids.

I'm very encouraged by the success of our youth teams on really hope it gives us something of a foundation to build upon but on the making it as professionals front, I think it's important to recognise that our club currently plays at a lower level of youth football and it might be good to temper expectations a little.

What level are they at?

Pax Tecum. I was but trying to be realistic. ae:)

My real question, (and I watched the whole game ) I suppose, was how many of our goals would have got past a good defence? A euphoric celebration level would be in order if we had put two of them past any level three defence, because that's where the comparison comes in as it's level three Mr Schumacher is aiming at is it not? If the opposition defence had been on any level a par with their front game, would a 7-2 result even be considered.? Well done the yoof indeed for beating what was in front of them, but swap the champers for a couple of realistic after-match pints and I'll buy em (internet ones of course)...

TD these are kids. Playing against other teams of kids. It’s the same for both sides. Really not sure why we’d expect them to be already at league one/three level?

Yeah. Wouldn't expect that, but the three young ''uns who had game time did ok (for young uns). Big step when you've been used to being bigger and stronger..

Yeah indeed. At least there are some we can say who are ‘bigger and stronger’ as opposed to the opposite…
