Charlton beat Wycombe 1-0 and face Orient in a NE v SE London final (in NW London).
Surely Orient are East Laaandaaahn? Jellied eels are going to take a hammering a week on Sunday.

Haven’t watched any of the play offs…can’t really face it. Indeed results on here first I knew of them.

Now we know the final I can also safely say I will be giving that an equally wide berth. Can they both lose?
Must admit I haven't had the slightest desire to watch any of it.

I'll watch the FA Cup final rooting for Palace - nothing hugely against City, but I like things to be less predictable - and I might try to watch the UEFA Cup Or Whatever It's Called because it'd be almost as funny watching United lose as it would to then watch Spurs agonise over whether to sack Ange.

Haha yeah c’mon Palace. Be great for them.

Not watching the UEFA cup final - but I have a feeling this is Amorim’s Mark Robins moment and he turns out to be the next Fergie. Which doesn’t exactly make me want to watch.

I've just had a haircut and my barber (a Charlton supporter) predicted Palace will win 3-1. He also thought the Addicks will shade it next weekend. So there you have it.

I landed in '93, but managed to escape in 2012. Apart from a brief visit in 2013 I've only passed through a couple of times after landing at Heathrow. Was a good time, but couldn't see myself going back now.

Those two Charlton Wycombe games were bad enough to get football stopped. They were in stark contrast to the two Orient Stockport matches.

I've a bit of a soft spot for Charlton but after Nathan Jones performative nonsense last night "Ooh look at me!" I'm rooting for Orient now.

Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but - for completeness - next season we are joined by Doncaster, Port Vale and Bradford from L2 and Luton, Plymouth and Cardiff from the Champo.

L2 play off semis are Walsall v Chesterfield and Wimbledon v Notts C.

Bradford were automatically promoted through a 96th minute winner scored by Antoni Sarcevic (in front of 24k supporters).
...and while we're rounding up, the four teams relegated from this division were Shrewsbury, Cambridge, Bristol Rovers and Cambridge - some long and unglamorous trips whose absence will not be mourned by most (northern) Wanderers.

That said, Plymouth's no fun to get to (and nothing new) so that's a blow. Cardiff we haven't played since 2018 and it's better than Bristol Rovers. Luton, well it's certainly an experience, better than Cambridge.

Donny, Vale and Bradford should be much more lively games (and bigger gates). Personally I'd love Wimbledon to go up - partly as I like the club, partly as it's only nine miles from my house (when we played them early in the Parky days at Kingstonian I went on my bike) - though whether tickets would be gettable is another thing....

The Dons have beaten Notts C (again) and are in the play-off final.

Deserved win for Palace today. De Bruyne is a mere shadow of the player he was when partnering Eden Hazard and subbing Foden instead of Grealish proved wrong as he didn't even seem to want the ball. Best team won. :oyea:

12 months in the 80's, living off Old Street (so not in outer Wycombe or owt.) Most souless, dump of a city, I've ever had the displeasure of.

I spent many years working in Fitzrovia and rather enjoyed it. Slightly off the touristy bits, some good pubs and restaurants - one such pub around 15 paces from my office, with a landlord not inclined to turf us out at the usual times. Oh, and there was a load of nurses accommodation a couple of hundred yards down the road. Good days for a lad in his 20s

I'm not saying there weren't any decent nights out (up Islington High, in our case) - there were. It's just all the bits that weren't "night out," in no way made up for the downsides (for me.) I mean I'm not much of a City dweller in any event, wouldn't live in the middle of Manchester or Bolton either.

I enjoyed city life. Took me 2-3 years to settle and still yearned for decent beer/chippy etc, but in the end all was good. Nowadays people can feck off. I'm a grumpy old git and the fewer people the better. Winter on Skye is great despite the weather

Yeah, I hear you. I spent most of my life working in Cities, worldwide, but prefer to come home at weekends to get away from them. London is a long way from the top of my list, but maybe because I've seen it most often..

I moved around, mainly sticking north of course, but did try west, east and south east as well. Was almost like a different mini city each time. Doubt I'd recognise much of it now, and probably wouldn't enjoy most of what I liked back then either.

Isn't Evatt one of the favourites for the Cardiff job?

Yep, the 4/7 favourite with several bookies, per one website updated today. Des Buckingham (2/1) is the only other candidate shorter than 8/1, and even that 8/1 shot is Steven Gerrard, which seems... unlikely.

We know odds don't necessarily show likelihood, just bookies covering their well-dressed asses, but it does seem there aren't many names in the frame. Which is intriguing as I read a decent piece by an old mate this morning about how many former Champo managers are swishing about unemployed. Cardiff could go either way this season but I'm surprised more names haven't been flung toward the hat.

I struggle to see Cardiff appointing Evatt - I wouldn’t have thought his CV is all that appealing for a team presumably expecting to bounce straight back to the Championship.

Pete Atherton was sat behind me in a restaurant in Portugal on Sunday, so I would’ve asked him for the inside scoop if I’d thought of it.

Another vaguely interesting sighting on my trip to Vilamoura was the entire Leyton Orient team, who were staying in my hotel. They didn’t seem to be massively holding back on the partying either, which was quite odd, given they were a week out from one of the biggest games in the club’s history.

I hope that he gets the Cardiff job and comes back and takes some of our players that he signed, it may be the only way of getting rid of a few.
