ACD is our most exciting signing thus far, for me. Clearly the lad has to apply himself properly, but if he does, looks to have the ability to be the best player in the division.

Give me these types over mid-20s lower league journeymen any day.

Virtually all our signings have experience of a higher level or at least a higher level on paper (Scotland/Austria is debatable). But still. A far cry from 25 year olds who have never played above this league.

Apparently Nixon has said Huddersfield want George Thomason if they, as expected, can’t get Preston’s Brad Potts.

Discuss.

If its a decent enough offer then why not i.e. £750k ish - although personally I would prefer Sheehan to go.

Down to Schumacher and Harkin to decide what an acceptable offer for any player would be and whether selling them makes sense.

He’s one I’d be sad to see go before we manage to achieve promotion but equally I suspect every player is up for grabs if a suitable offer comes in.

The fact he’s been the subject of a 7 figure bid from the championship and now a cash rich league one side may want to offer significant money suggests that he’s maybe a better player than some of our fans suggest. I guess the question is whether he has a role in a 4231 assuming that is the system we end up playing.

Thomason has a good engine on him and he’s versatile, he has the attitude that Schumacher likes also, so I’d be surprised if Schumacher let him leave especially to a rival.

Yeah every player has his price and we need to shunt some, but I suspect Thomo may not top Schumacher’s shit-list.

Bluntly, I wouldn’t trust some of our fans’ opinions at all. For me he seems willing to learn. Happily dropped into LCB when we needed that. Will play at 6 or 8 (I suspect he will end up a 6) and his left-footedness adds a rarity bonus. Also unlikely to rock boats if not in the team.

But as ever, you can’t choose who buyers target.

In terms of work rate & commitment Thomason is better than anyone else in last seasons squad, the lad gives everything. For me he only goes if the offer is a good one.

He's a good mid table league 1 midfielder, however I don't think that he's consistent enough for a top league 1 side - saying that all of last seasons squad were the same. I agree that he won't be anywhere near the top of SS's get rid list.

If Thomason did leave, who then becomes captain? It has to be a regular starter.

If we're bringing in this Ceesay chap, then moving Thomason on would make a lot of sense, especially if there was good money on the table.

As previously discussed, there's going to be a logjam in the centre of the park, and the two new lads I'm sure are being earmarked as starters. All the three incumbents are thus under threat, and I'm sure we'd consider bids for any of them. If Thomason is the one who's generating interest then so be it. We'd miss his industry, no doubt, but I do suspect that he's hit his ceiling as a footballer.

He was by far the tallest dwarf in the end of season shit show and looked to really suit the shape. But equally I think his ceiling is top end L1/lower champo so if it's a good offer then I'm fine with it.

Time waits for no man, but it's about now. The future is beyond our direction, but use what we have ..Que Sera, etc. George is a Wanderer. I'd sooner Sheehan went than him. Just my opinion.

He's got a good engine, he's versatile, he's rarely injured, he leads the team and he's shown loyalty in the past.

I'd be genuinely upset if he left - especially to a team we anticipate being a promotion rival.

The good news is, you don't have to worry too much about fans opinions. They're not likely to have a big impact on who stays and goes. I think we just have to go with "managers call," and see what drops out the other side.

I’d look to the centre backs. Have Johnston or Toal been vice cap before? I think Forino might be a good leader.

I imagine most feel this way but as DSB says we can’t control who is in demand and will attract offers.

Not me.

Again, on the proviso that Ceesay is coming in, I think Sheehan’s creativity is something I’d prefer to keep in the squad.

I'd be surprised if it was anyone but Forino.
