Not true sluffy.

Everyone begins the second round with a clean slate, and that goes for those who 'should' be suspended.

at least i was more entertained than on saturday,even if we did leave it late
even found myself cheering Shrek

and forgot that i'd driven to the station today, got drunk and had to walk home - OOPS!

Usually I would trust Fat Frank in front of goal over ANY other England player, but today he was poor.

From the Beeb

Single bookings from the group stage will not be carried over into the knock-out stage, but any suspensions incurred must be served. Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard were both booked in England's opening 1-0 win over Paraguay, but should England advance and they manage to avoid picking up cards against Trinidad and Tobago or Sweden, those cautions would be wiped out.
But any player booked in both the remaining group games would be ruled out of any second round match.

Excellent performance from TnT. Stuck to their game plan superbly.

Dire first hour for England - they actually got worse in first 15 mins of the second half. The abiding image was of Ja-Ja Ferdinand ambling out of defence and hitting a speculative 40 yard pass to someone lurking on the left wing. Shabby finishing too. Much better when England went 3-5-2-ish.

Owen is obviously not fully fit. Nor is Ashley Cole. I doubt Sven will play Gerard and Lampard together for the next game assuming a double yellow carries over to a suspension for the next round. I reckon that both Owen and Rooney will play quite a bit of the next game to try and regain their fitness. You'd have thought that David James will get a look in too (ulp!). Will Sven stick with three at the back? (Our survey says: 'Urgh-urrrgh!) Mind you, all this depends to some extent on the outcome of tonight's game and the last games in Group A.

Bit of info on Cornell Glen:

"The jet-heeled forward has often been linked with a move to Europe - notably Derby and Peterborough - but is now a key man in the US Major League with LA Galaxy. The 24-year-old is tipped as a surprise package, courtesy of two years heightening his dribbling skills in America. Glen's only stint in Europe was a season with Association Deportivo in the Portuguese second division." (from The Times)

Not much pedigree there, but for the length of time (OK, wasn't much) he was on he looked good. He's probably got a head the size of Mbesuma's belly now, though.

Yeah. I think it's fair to say Sam is a big fan of Crouchy.

John Terry saved the day for us last night with that sublime piece of defending - if that goal had gone in I reckon we'd have lost the game 1-0.

Could have done with Sweden vs Paraguay finishing goaless. So we could rest players, change the squad etc. The Sweden game could be interesting as the Germany vs Ecuador result will be known.
Could have both teams trying to win or lose depending on which team they want to play in the next round. Have to say Equador look pretty good thus far but do we really want to play the Germans so early in the tournament. Sven its over to you.

That's an interesting point. We really need to finish top of the group no matter who we're playing because coming second will match us up with Brazil earlier on in the competition instead of the final, assuming we get that far. Of course Sweden will be thinking exactly the same thing.

That said, there is no such thing as an easy game, a point that was proven last night.

Said on t''radio this morning that Crouch's goal shouldnt have been allowed. He grabbed the defenders pony tail orsummat. Cant say I noticed at the time.

I don't think that is as unrealistic as it sounds.

If form went on the last 6 months, there are a lot of players who would be in it before Fat Frank, 2006 has been a very poor year for him so far. Chelsea fans reckon he's had one eye on the World Cup since Christmas, which is concerning really, considering he's had such a poor tournament.

MOM against Paraguay? I don't think so!
