they're going to announce today who will face charges - players and clubs
possible punishments being relegation, stripped of trophys, mere fines or relegation
can't wait

Dunno, but my fingers are crossed.Winter Hill White wrote:Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.
Is there any chance of Italian clubs being barred from competing in Europe?
Thus creating some extra places for clubs who may have just missed out on qualification last season.

I doubt it. In any case, European games are the last thing we need.Winter Hill White wrote:Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

Highly, highly unlikely.Winter Hill White wrote:Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

But there's a good chance that AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina are going to be demoted, and from the evidence so far, Juve are in the biggest trouble imaginable.

Match fixing has been going on for years in the lowere leagues of italian football. Unfortunatley, there is still a 'favours' mentality in Italian football, I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine; You let us win this game, we'll help you with players in the future.
This incident might not be a cut and dry as that but it doesn't surprise me to see this filter into the bigger clubs.

I'll show my arse of Bolton town Hall steps if the authorities don't largely dodge this one.Le Snake wrote:It'll aaaaaaaaall be whitewashed
No chance, whatsoever, that 4 or 5 of the world's (let alone Italy's) top teams will get demoted. Not a cat in hell's.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You do offer this prospect far too regularly for my liking!bobo the clown wrote:I'll show my arse of Bolton town Hall steps if the authorities don't largely dodge this one.
I seem to remember the Italian authorities getting heavy with Fiorentina a few years ago - I don't think they'll all avoid the bullet.

yeah, but after they went bankrupt , what did they do next ? they started up again , let the 'new fiorentena' (which might be just the same people that bankrupted in the first place) buy back the name and colours and shit (they might even play in the same stadium they did then) they promoted them at least one division when it wasnt warranted (above other teams that finished higher) ... etc ...mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:You do offer this prospect far too regularly for my liking!bobo the clown wrote:I'll show my arse of Bolton town Hall steps if the authorities don't largely dodge this one.

it'll be a "they got fined £4 in damages" lawyer talk 'loss' which means they'll effectively get away with it all..

Sadly that looks increasingly like it will be the case.bobo the clown wrote:

But Juve, surely, surely, must be relegated, or the IFA will just look like a bunch of weak idiots.
Some of the odds for draws in Serie B are a total joke near the end of the season, often it's 1/2 for a draw when it should be 9/4 at the shortest.Backgammon wrote:Match fixing has been going on for years in the lowere leagues of italian football. Sinister new twist?
I wouldn't bet against it! Someone is trying to make him an offer he can't refuse I bet. Wonder if he fell or dove?
