Since we've never met a lot of them you have to take pot luck. Ain't personal, just the luck of the draw. Next time you might be the hero, who knows?
I'm afraid that's the truth of it Lennon :(

Like CH say's, next time round you may find yourself being a muscle ripped superspy that's saves the planet and get's all the girl. Can't have hero's without a few villians.

If it's any consolation Lennon, I always give myself the worst part in the novel.

No consolation required! I like my character. I was just curious.

As someone with a lively sense of self-preservation who hides in the quiet groves of academe, I would say not.

Yeah but all that's just a front isn't it? I for one can see right through the pacifistic, mild mannered librarian persona that you've created for yourself on here.

In 1967, whilst I was stuck in the western town of Golden, BC, I was caught up in barroom brawl (something to do with a visiting baseball team or the price of plums, I forget which). I turned round from playing a game of (indoor) shuffleboard and was greeted by a right hook to the jaw which rendered me a non-combatant for the remainder of the disturbance (having just enough strength to crawl under the shuffleboard table). It didn't help matters that my assailant was a woman - although I use the word loosely since she outweighed me by 50 pounds and drove an 18-wheeler semi for a living. On the bright side the landlord gave me free beer once the dust had settled. Since that day, nearly 40 years ago, I assure you my persona has been mild-mannered in the extreme - indeed, I am 0-1 lifetime in fights. I never saw the punch that decked me but I still get a twinge when the wind is in the North-East.
