I turned round from playing a game of (indoor) shuffleboard and was greeted by a right hook to the jaw which rendered me a non-combatant for the remainder of the disturbance (having just enough strength to crawl under the shuffleboard table). It didn't help matters that my assailant was a woman - although I use the word loosely since she outweighed me by 50 pounds and drove an 18-wheeler semi for a living. On the bright side the landlord gave me free beer once the dust had settled. Since that day, nearly 40 years ago, I assure you my persona has been mild-mannered in the extreme - indeed, I am 0-1 lifetime in fights. I never saw the punch that decked me but I still get a twinge when the wind is in the North-East.
