Another Victory for the PC Brigade
http://www.guardian.co.uk/smoking/Story ... 38,00.html
one tithead viewer complaint later and possibly the best-loved 50's cartoon duo will never be the same again
it's ridiculous. kids aren't tempted into smoking by a comedy cat, it's peer pressure, bike sheds, ice cream van men selling them that causes it
i'm gutted the next gen of kids won't get to see tom and jerry as it should be, i fret for this world at time

You're right there. They should make said tithead appear on telly in front of a studio audience and try to justify their pathetic reasoning. Mind you I'm not sure who is worse. The knob for complaining or the clowns that took any notice of it.hisroyalgingerness wrote:one tithead viewer complaint later
I can safely say T&J has never unduly influenced me, although when my wife disagreed with this, the urge to smash her in the face with a frying pan was overwhelming.

I would truly love to meet these perfect citizens of the pc brigade. What a happy bunch of barstewards they must be. Imagine getting up in a morning and spending the day looking for something to ban. What are future films going to be like when they pertain to be "warts an all" yet have such lily white characters who never do wrong?

We had the political correctness brigade in 16th Century Spain.
We called them heretics.
And handed them over the Inquisition.
It never really caught on.
I understand the modern equivalent of "heretic" is "Unamerican" or "undemocratic".

Couldn't agree more, your royalness.
Poor Noddy and Big Ears. Banned - not for the terms Noddy and Big Ears but because they are depicted as sleeping in the same bed. I note though that PC Plod was left alone.
'Tis sheer madness. I can, to an extent, understand concerns about some movie content and also some of the computer games available for children - but innocent childrens stories and cartoons? Let's be honest; in most cartoons and books aimed at children the goodie usually triumphs over the baddie or, if there is no baddie, then the hero does something good.
What a load of 'do-gooding' poppyrooster.
