face facts
without sky, we'd not get wall to wall sports pictures
we'd still be having to make do with two hours of radio comms when the ashes start

Ok, time to own up: I've got money on the USA.
The Ryder Cup never arouses terribly partisan feelings in me though. I feel I have more in common with Americans than I do with the Spanish, French etc.

I think I'm the only person that firstly doesn't get golf and secondly doesn't get supporting Europe, tis a bizarre sporting event.

Yes, but Europe has a better team this year I think. After the top US 4 they have very little.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Ok, time to own up: I've got money on the USA.

Credit to Team Europe for yet another impressive two days of pairs golf. It's an absolute scandal that Europe hasn't had a major winner since Lawrie (1999) - what is it about the mentaility of this continent's golfers that means they need a cuddle?
Woods is way off his game, but I still maintain it's him trying too hard rather than not caring.
It's been put to me that Darren Clarke is being almost too chirpy to be tasteful. I mostly disagreed. Any thoughts?

Darren Clarke must be putting up a wonderfully brave face in public. Inside, it must be terrible. Credit to the man for not just hitting the bottle and folding. Power to him......... On the golf:
Brilliant team-work today from the Europeans and Garcia and Casey were top-notch. Great effort all round.Tomorrow, the singles, is the critical time. Just four and a half points needed, but no morale boosting team-mate along to share the load. I think that's what Lehman will be stressing tonight. The Americans are great scrappers and they have some fine golfers. Mickelsen, Furick and Di Marco are old hands at this stuff and the new unknown, J.J.Henry has been playing out of his skin. Tiger will be stung into action on a personal pride front after today. Today was about holing puts, we did, they didn't. If we maintain the standard of golf, although it won't be a walkover, we'll do it. Fantastic atmosphere and what an ogre of a golf course. Looks like they just dropped a load of fields in the middle of a great lake.
Come on Europe!

Sound analysis Tango. J.J.Henry looks a very solid ball striker, and fellow rookie Zach Johnson is a fine player too. Make no mistake, bar Furyk, it's the big guns who have disappointed for the USA so far.
Isn't it nice to see par-5s that need a rip with a fairway wood for the second shots?
