Bradford City Fire Footage

The principle in evacuating these types of stadia is to move into a fire resisting structure, ie the stircases which would hold the fire back for at least an hour. The general problem is usually the smoke which 90% of the time kills you first.
I would be very surprised if any stadia had rubbish left under the stands now.

John Byrom once asked me to wash his car
Have regulations changed in recent years? That stand only went up about 6/7 years ago or so. Can't say I've noticed it as being any worse than any other stand for evacuating. The most worrying I've been in is the lower Shed at Chelsea, especially if you're towards the middle of the pitch.Bruce Rioja wrote:See also the Anfield Road End at Liverpool. It's as well that there's not much to catch fire there as there would be no chance of evacuating it in a hurry.
The link is a general one for the HJC's site - not to do with McGovern. I would recommend it as a piece of television, though. Not the easiest of viewing, whether you're a Red or just a fan of another side.Bruce Rioja wrote:Have to be honest, Blurred. Anything I've ever seen of McGovern's has always come over to me as being pathetically jaundiced, and this little lot strengthened my belief in that my conclusion's correct.

The Sun's dead sound, it's got birds with big knockers."
Take them in work and decorate your lockers.
The sport in it's boss, especially the racin'.
And the 'oroscopes tell us the day we're all facin'".
"Don't you remember, you ignorant swine?
All the lies they told in eighty-nine.
Let me remind you just what they said.
We pissed on the bizzies and robbed our own dead."
"But the telly page's sound, they've got bingo and lotto.
And on one of the pages there's a nice little motto.
Anyway Evo I just didn't know.
It doesn't matter now it was so long ago."
"It does feck*' matter! It matters a lot.
People had children they've no longer got.
People had fathers they'll no longer see.
They said that I killed them, they said it was me!"
"Shut up will you Evo. You're always bangin' on.
Hillsborough and justice, all that carry on.
Anyway Evo get out of me face.
It's only a newspaper in any case."
"It's not a newspaper. A newspaper has news.
Not made up stories with which to abuse.
What they said was "The Truth" were all scurrilous lies.
We got no apology. What a surprise!"
"All right then Evo what should I buy?"
Tell me one, give me the reason why.
Which one do you think stands out from the rest?
The Mirror, The Echo, which one's the best?"
"Don't buy the Sun. It's fit only to burn.
Don't buy the Sun. There's nothing you'll learn.
I'll say it once more and then I'll be done.
Buy what you want, but DON'T BUY THE SUN."
Don't recall ever hearing that rumour.Batman wrote:Was there not always some suspicion that it was an insurance job and the Chairman was in some way complicit with the fire being started?
I could be wrong........
You sure your not confusing it with the fire at Doncaster Rovers ground?
The Chairman there was later arrested for arson I think.

An interesting parallel with the Sun & Hillsborough was the Daily Star with the Bradford fire. The monday after the game they ran a front page story claiming the fire was started by hooligans throwing flares into the main stand as witnessed by their chief sports reporter. At the inquest when it was made palpably clear that this was untrue, said journalist was made to look a right tit.
RIP all the victims of Bradford, Heysel & Hillsborough.

Wasn't aware of that, to be honest. The Star actually came out with a similar line to 'The Truth' of The Sun in the aftermath of Hillsborough, although not quite as bilious, and realising that they were talking bollocks they retracted the story very shortly after, which of course The Sun never have done.Harry Genshaw wrote:An interesting parallel with the Sun & Hillsborough was the Daily Star with the Bradford fire. The Sun are conniving little bastards, too. Do a google.co.uk search for any major city in the country. Which is the only one to have a sponsored link that says 'read news about x here, The Sun'? F*cking Liverpool.
Horrible nice people.
