North Korea Nuclear Test
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-p ... 033457.stm
Some of the more "experienced" posters are gonna have to help me out here...
North korea have tested a supposed Nuke. Why on earth are America of all people in outcry? 8 countrys already have nukes, and its most of these 8 countries which have expressed their anger fiercest.
If the world's powers at be don't want any more countries to have nukes for fear of twitchy-button-finger-syndrom then why do the other 8, seein they're so bothered simply disarm there's?
Or am I beginning to sounds naively idealistic? (You'll have to forgive me I did a business degree, I wasn't tought to give a shit about such things)

From Wiki - "Kim Jong-il's official biography also holds that his birth at Mount Paektu was foretold by a swallow, and that his birth was heralded by the appearance of a double rainbow over the mountain and a new star in the heavens".

There is a parallel, but I dont think george is up for an offensive strike with a nuclear weapon.CAPSLOCK wrote:Though on refelection, I trust the yanks more than the N Koreansnorthkoreawanderer wrote:Summed up briefly - The guy in charge is a complete fruit n nut case. I am concerned about that sort of leadership having nuclear weapons, and the brinkmanship it could course, but I don't like the we have it but you can't attitude.

which is why our lot should get rid of theirs altogether. instead, we're taking hypocrisy onto a new level by deciding which big bastard bomb/sub combo should replace the Trident systemchris wrote:I am concerned about that sort of leadership having nuclear weapons, and the brinkmanship it could course, but I don't like the we have it but you can't attitude.

I'm all for keeping nukes in the club.
'We' can provide those outside the club with enriched Uranium and make sure it goes into properly staffed nuclear power stations, meanwhile never letting them know how the enrichment is done.
If everyone had nukes it's just more increasingly dodgy fingers on the button, if geniunely no-one had them then as soon as North Korea made theirs we'd risk being held to ransom until we made some.

Stay up
Surely a North Korea without Nukes could be held to ransom by us/America/whoever else, hence why they are building them.Athers wrote:I'm all for keeping nukes in the club.

he's not up for any scrap against North Korea. He knows he'll get his ass whupped if he goes there, nukes or not, it's why he's suddenly all for having the UN help out.superjohnmcginlay wrote:There is a parallel, but I dont think george is up for an offensive strike with a nuclear weapon.CAPSLOCK wrote:Though on refelection, I trust the yanks more than the N Koreansnorthkoreawanderer wrote:Summed up briefly - The guy in charge is a complete fruit n nut case. The trouble is why shouldn't anyone else have their own nukes? The US has them but says it won't use them - so why have them? While one lot has them, you can't argue when someone else wants them. And they have the right to develop their own technology too, you can't make they beholden to someone else for it.
Kim Jong-il is a mentalist though, it's a close call between him and GWB as to who is madder.
power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

are you OK with Israel being "in the club"?? there's precious little outcry about their nukes despite their presence im a powder-keg political landscape...Athers wrote:I'm all for keeping nukes in the club.
if we approve of Israel having them - then we can't complain about Iran having them - or N Korea..

What's the problem?
