Here we go again..........again.

No nothing about religious denomination or who's right it is to have what. Just a simple question, what does Christmas mean to you?

Does it mean the celebration of the birth of Christ? Or a chance to have all the family together? Maybe it's all about your kids and the look on their faces when they open that living room door on Christmas morning. Or for the younger of you, the chance to get pxssed out of your skull and doing the Halliwell mile fifteen times during December.

For me it's now all about my kids and the look on their faces as they violently rip the Christmas wrapping paper from their new toys. With a son of nine and a daughter of two, these are to best Christmas years to have, plus we are having the family down here in Oxford for the very first time so I get to have a good few beers with my old man before ripping the manc lover to pieces.

So what would your Christmas be this year?

Although I would classify myself as an atheist, Christmas is still primary a Christian festival/celebration of Christ's birth to me (I was brought up Church of England). However, a festival where one can exchange presents and have people be nice to one another is no bad thing. It is, SOTWA, great for the kids and probably has less religious significance to them than it does to me.

Quite so Monty. Just because I hold to solid definition on religion doesn't mean religious instruction should not apply. Peace on Earth (in the homestead) good will to all men (The family together in celebration)

I will spend this Christmas and my birthday (enough hints) in Montyland visiting family some of whom I miss soooooooo much and some who I'm not really that fussed with. A usual Christmas holiday really.

Maybe if Monty is really unlucky, I might just be able to arrange a brief visit if Montreal is prepared to accept me?????

Christmas always means to me lots of time spent with Mrs G & the family. Lovely.

We were discussing Xmas leave at work today which resulted in the mother of all rows as one selfish bint who's never worked the xmas period tried to dip out of it again - when told she had to come in she announced "I'll ring in sick then!".

My goodwill to all stops at her this year

I always used to volunteer to work over Christmas. People thought I was mad, but it was a doddle. Drive in on empty roads. Sod all to do so take a good book or mess about on the Internet. Leave early because no one was there to check up on you. Brownie points and a lever with which to negotiate the holidays I did want.

Having my children and granddaughter visit at the same time.

Unfortunately I work for myself and work from home (which is good most of the time) and do so seven days a week. For two years I didn't receive one 'phone call on Christmas Day. The last few have been somewhat different. Last year I had three; the third was at 11:45 PM.

So, to me - apart from the above - a good Christmas is one on which I don't receive a business 'phone call.

Taking my young daughter to Florida to see Mickey and Minnie.

For her Christmas surprise I have booked for us to go and swim with the dolphins!

Christmas Day on some beach on the Mexican Gulf - if all goes to plan!

Then back home to Slough!!!

Christmas = family
