The best years of our lives.....
Reading through some posts earlier I saw someone made reference to which school they went to. So.....
I was at Thornleigh between '78 and '83
What about you?

No, those of us of a certain age will remember the termination of the Grammar School system. Farnworth Grammar was merged with Little Lever School, closed down, demolished and is now some old biddy flats.superjohnmcginlay wrote:Got kicked out of grammar school then?communistworkethic wrote:Farnworth Grammar 81-82

Generally speaking this would be true for me since I was one of those unfortunates who was packed off to various bleak penal institutions from when I was 8 years old (and they were not my best years). However, from 1948-1952, I did attend a local kindergarten on Princess Road, Lostock, called Miss Spencer's, conveniently located across the street from my house. Boys attended from 4-8 yrs old and girls from 4-11 yrs old. One classmate, April Wilding, went on to become a film actress (see google - her mother, who taught me dancing at Markland Hill Tennis Club, later remarried to Sir Harry Pilkington, a glass bigwig in St. Helen's). The four daughters of the Town Clerk, Mr. Rennison, also attended as well as the son of the BEN owner, Marcus Tillotson. I somewhat doubt any other TW members would have gone there but one never knows.blurred wrote:Likewiseamericantrotter wrote:Not a chance anyone knows my schools.
