Superbowl.
Its the biggie. The"greatest show on Earth". Colts vs Bears.
Colts are clear favourites, with Payton Manning hoping to lose the tag of greatest player NEVER to win the 'bowl. Colts should win and the punters are backing them at the bookies.
However, I think the Bears will take the title back to the Windy City. I'm rooting for the underdog.

Colts for sure. Peyton's the best passer since Dan Marino, and it will be nice if he could be rewarded with a SB win as Marino never was.
More to the point, the AFC was the far better league and the Colts the better team. The Bears ended up coasting after an amazing start. Hell, my Seahawks took them to overtime in the divisional playoffs.
Final: 37-24

Well i on the other hand, not being bothered to assess the respective merits of both teams, the overall state of American football, and the way that it slots into our appreciation of sport in general, also dont give a toss
a flying one at that

Well, it was looking like good, rain-drenched entertainment for a while, but the Bears weren't good enough to make it interesting. MVP was Rhodes, not Manning, for me.
Still, a baker's dozen of Samuel Adams later and who cares?

Peyton Manning could have thrown 12 interceptions then punched Dan Marino in the face and he still would have gotten MVP. Football commentators talk about him the way preachers talk about Jesus. "And Peyton Manning descended from heaven and decreed that He should use the shotgun formation, and He saw that it was good!"
Awful game, so many turnovers and absolutely no drama. That's the problem with making it such a spectacle. When it's bad, it looks really bad.

it's really doing my head in how Sky are ramming this down our throats: "YOU WILL LIKE THIS SPORT"
see also - A1 Grand Prix, Darts
During build up cut to Sophie Blake at the "biggest UK Superbowl party", full of 4,000 people Sky probably invited along
then later in the year the game at Wembley which will be watched by tourists, expats and the odd person out of curiosity and Sky giving it its cursory arse-licking

hmmm, skysports big up everything they have - which is good , no sneery gary lineker teking the piss if its not big boy (man utd , arsenal , england , etc, no second division shite for us !!) soccer or golf .. sky's soccer might have share of bbc-esque pat-on-head types (andy gray) but the rest usually get 'up for it' presenters , if the presenters arent bothered - the viewers wont be ...hisroyalgingerness wrote:it's really doing my head in how Sky are ramming this down our throats: "YOU WILL LIKE THIS SPORT"

the game in london might get that what you said , but thats kinda what everybody that wanted it wants or can tolerate if it means the game is here..
some People might have this right sneery 'its not soccer - which is the best - why arse about with owt else?' (usually kinda ironically while supporting football teams like england and any team thats not manutd ) which i cant see the benefit of being elitist like that about , coz there is no point ..
'You' dont give shit 'Other People' think soccer's shite , so 'Other People' wont give a shit 'you' dont like what they like ..
