I know it's not what you mean, but seven competitive games is 70% of a qualification campaign. That's two years up the spunt, not to mention the knock-on effect of England not being in a finals - both financial, which is rather important for the FA at the moment <cough> Wembley <cough>, but also prestige and interest in the (expensive) game. Younger viewers might not remember 1973, 1977 and 1993, but they weren't pleasant.officer_dibble wrote:would mclaren get sacked if we lost? I know he's shit but surely we shouldn't just bow down to mass media hype and give a manager more than 6 or 7 games these days?
After Israel it's Andorra on Wednesday, "a no-rosette situation for Mr Galbraith" which McClaren will have to win well or be shot, let alone sacked. Then the next qualifier is in Estonia on Wed June 6th before Israel at home on Sat Sep 8th.
If we lose in Israel, and it's quite possible that we will, he might go. You'd like to think a monkey with a shaved head could beat Andorra, and after that there'd be time to appoint a successor - ideally for Estonia in June, after the season, so anyone could take over if they can arrange to leave their club at the end of the season. That's a lot of candidates.

ahhh feck it - mclaren out
In fact, he should go if we draw.
Oh, bllx to it, he should go if we win 4-0 !!!
He hasn't been given only 6-7 games ... he was Sven's #2 for 50+, so he will be judged on the fact that he's damaged goods anyway.
Pearce will be free soon ... & Curb's possibly !
Big Ron's not doing owt at present. What about Jimmy Meadows ?
... or Stan Anderson with Denis Peacock as his goalkeeping coach in a 2-man "dream team" ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Least he's finally had the balls to drop the sack of shat that is Jermaine Jenas. Just wish he'd apply the same philosophy with the other dead weights in the squad, Phil Neville and Jermaine Defoe.
McClaren should go. The only thing he's demonstrated so far in his tenure as England boss is that we are getting worse and he's not willing to try new avenues that will make us successful. Forshame.

Seriously,
England have many of the best players in the world at the moment. You only need someone who can get the best out of them when it's time to play international. You've got the best league in the world ( yeah, I know mostly because of Boltons international
) but barely made the last 16 in germany). Time to bring in a new coach, but more important, invite some young players who want to play fotball and who want to represent their country with pride! The whole f*cking island is full of them, just pick a few.
cheers
