Swearing
I think we've established that bar Daxter we're all over a certain age, and therefore not likely to be offended by the odd naughty word.
I understand about the 'expanding yuor vocabulary' business but come on, decent usage of the old f u c k can embellish an argument.
Therefore Keveh I ask you to remove the filter and let the full England language emerge, warts and all.

Maybe replacing it with a spellcheck facility, eh?Batman wrote:I think we've established that bar Daxter we're all over a certain age, and therefore not likely to be offended by the odd naughty word.

If non-members were browsing the site and saw it littered with obscenities, it might discourage them from joining. Do you want that?

I would agree with the filter, although not particularly for the KUMB reason. Most people should be capable of conveying their thoughts without interjecting a swearword every time an adjective is required (or a noun for that matter). Indeed, swearwords are far more effective when used rarely in extreme circumstances IMHO, and text is much more easily read without them there all the time.CrazyHorse wrote:Soz, but I like the fact that we don't have swearing. KUMB allows swear words and it makes them look like a right bunch of cu*ts which is why for that reason alone I think we should continue to filter them.

Hear, hear!
Most of us swear on occasion; I try to contain my profanities to those when I hit my thumb with a hammer.
This does not mean I'm attempting to emulate a saint, as a saint I am most certainly not. As Monty points out, the overuse of such terms takes away from them their intrinsic essence and thus their value in expressing an emotion.
Then again, nor am I a supporter of silly acronyms TBH.
