Sorry Hoolio,

17 years is a long time but ofcorse not long enogh. Got a schäfer/bordercollie myself, only four years old so I got many good years with her. Can't imagine life without her!

Had my cat from when I was four until I was 22. At the end she had a ton of health problems, particularly her kidneys. Putting her to sleep was the right thing to do, but I still catch glimpses of anything white and puffy at the parents' house and think it's her.

Condolences Hoolio. In my time I've suffered the loss of a dog after 15 years and a cat after 10, and I'm not sure either can ever be replaced. As ever, remember the good times, leave the sad. Sounds like the poor thing had been suffering for a bit. Chin up buddy.
