Champions League Final

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Does anyone else think Seedorf is still one the finest players on the planet? for me he's up there with Van Basten for hero status, the guy is unbelievably good

From a previous post: AC were about Gatuso and Seedorf. The latter in a Bolton shirt is the stuff of dreams, he was immense. I don't think he lost the ball once in the whole game.

A load of people with fake tickets got in, and stopped fans with official tickets getting in...have to say if it was me I would of arrived about 2 hrs before kick off to get myself in, the ones i heard on the radio this am had rocked up 20 mins before ko or something.

Anyway knowing Liverpool we wont hear the end of this, not till their in another final anyway...

I got a text about half an hour before kick off saying that there were several thousand more in their end than there should have been.

I heard two stories on the radio on the way in.

One was of a bloke and his kids stood in line. The bloke had the four tickets he was holding snatched from his hand by a Liverpool 'fan'.

The other was of a 70-odd year old man who, having had a hip replacement in January, decided to make his way into the ground early to avoid the long queue. As he was sat, alone waiting for memebers of his family to join him, he was mugged for his wallet by another supporter.

I'm not going to generalise and say all scousers are tossers, but these two incidents show Liverpool fans in a particularly poor light.

Same thing was happening with the United final and also during the Euro championships and worldcup with England 'fans' robbing touts and fellow fans

The behaviour of some fans was a joke, and plenty of blag tickets will always be on the market for games like these, but the organisation at the ground, the policing and the security arrangements were nothing short of a farce. I can barely put into words the failings in the systems there, I'm torn between emotions of frustration, confusion, anger, bemusement, disillusionment and generally dumbstruck. It was an absolute f*cking joke. I've had about 6 hours kip since I got up for work on Tuesday morning. I'm just lost for words.

And that's before we talk about getting to the airport, the airport itself, and the debacle that were flights getting cancelled, filled with people who shouldn't be on them, and people being left on the tarmac while their plane pulls away.

The fact that I'm barely arsed that we lost the final shows the extent to which this was an almighty f*ck up from start to finish. That ground was never, never fit for hosting this match, and the Greek authorities and UEFA need an almighty kick up the c*nt for ever putting us there.

Joke.

Heard another story from one Liverpool fan who had a valid ticket but when he arrived at the turnstile was turned away as the ground was full. To paraphrase him, 'there were about 2,000 other fans with valid tickets who couldn't get in and then out of the blue, the police fired tear gas into the crowd'

Worst trip I've ever been on. I'll go into detail about it all at some stage, but I pretty much don't care about the result to be honest. I should be gutted that we've lost a European Cup Final, but I'm just fuming about everything else, and despairing at some of the things I heard, saw and was subjected to.

Words fail me, they really do.

Michael Howard was in with us on a daytrip - he was in the concrete wasteland of a 'holding area' that we were kept in after the game waiting for our buses to the airport.

How they can host a final at a ground that doesn't have a turnstile, and doesn't have a toilet within the stadium I don't know.

UEFA admitted the ground was not designed to host a football match. Why are they giving the showpiece final here? Why? It's ridiculous.
