The "finding fund" stands at £313,000 with a £2.6 million reward for information that helps find her.

I haven't said anything on this so far, but this is too much. It's not so much the news coverage, but the parents themselves. What the hell has going to see the Pope got to do with anything? Will this help in the search? Is the "Find Maddy" fund paying for this? Hardly something you'd expect your donation to be paying for you would think? There is something very wrong about this whole affair.CAPSLOCK wrote:Oh FFS

they's religious , if praying with the pope makes god bring her back - they'll do it ..fatshaft wrote:I haven't said anything on this so far, but this is too much. Even as a Catholic and a parent -and having so far defended against initial silly comment- I have to agree on that point. If they want to see the Pope then fine, do it privately at the right time, but it should have no place in all this. The case is tragic for all involved but I don't see how seeing the Pope and the media newsfest surrounding it has any place in it all. The religious world has prayed for them and probably will continue to do so, but this is an irrelevant action that will achieve nothing and probably just provide fodder for the knockers via adverse publicity.fatshaft wrote: I haven't said anything on this so far, but this is too much. I just hope the child is alive and safe somewhere but the initial sympathy will take a downturn if the parents and not the child continue to be the focus of it all. Personally, I just hope they, and alot of other parents everywhere have learned a bloody serious lesson from it all. Look after your kids.

"going to see the pope" is a bit different to "an audience with the the pope" (which incidentally isn't a one man show on ITV), as a Catholic I would have thought you'd understand the significance of having a chat with the guy who has a direct line to God. Not everyone gets an audience with him and gets to kiss his ring (stop it!). So within the context of their desperation and religion it's a big thing.

Everyones moaning about it being on the news, the fact that it's becoming world wide coverage.
All this (at least most of it) I feel if being directed by someone very clever behind the scenes. They aren't doing it for the media stats (though the media clearly are) I honestly think they are doing it to put such incrediable pressure on the person(s) holding her, that she becomes such hot property that all they can do is release her.
To apply so such pressure that they wouldn't dare not harm a hair on her head. If (as is believed) the people that took her, did so to sell her, then the more this kids face is on TV and in the media around the world the better.
I have a daughter of the same age, and this has made me sick to my soul since it started, and made me weep thinking of this frightened little girl that deserved nothing more then to play with her Barbie before going to school.
I don't care what her parents did at the moment, that's for later, and should be addressed then, but let's get behind putting every bit of pressure on these souless, god fearless demons who took her until they release her.
This girl is alive because I along with every other parent refuse to give up hope.
'This story has had it's day'? Fxck off! She's still out there!

I think I know what going to see the Pope means Commie ( a subject you seem pretty au-fait with for a non-believercommunistworkethic wrote:"going to see the pope" is a bit different to "an audience with the the pope" (which incidentally isn't a one man show on ITV), as a Catholic I would have thought you'd understand the significance of having a chat with the guy who has a direct line to God. No but everytime anyone of note gets an audience the Papal PR machine kicks in to action. The Vatican isn't one to miss a trick when it comes to self-promotion. You wait, if the kid's found it'll be by the "mercy of God" not police work. The parents didn't invite themselves to the big house, they were invited. Now as I stated previously, the only worthwhile activity they can undertake is to keep the story in the media and maximise public awareness otherwise they just go home, sit wait and no doubt pray.
And as for being informed on the nuances of the catholic church, yes I am, it's why I can see it a bunch of hokum.

Ooooooh No!! No, only if it was a Old Testament God would it be his will, he's all laissez-faire these days. He sits around doing feck all until he decides to answer someone's prayers. But he only answers those that rhyme on a Wednesday after he's watched Neighbours, not a lot of people know that, it's why so few get answered.CAPSLOCK wrote:And anyway, it's Gods will this youngster has gone missing
Maybe they'll ask him to explain that
