I've no idea of sluffy's personal situation but I'm pretty certain that Holiday 2007 & Desperate Housewives don't have a reputation for being used as a medium for viewing hard core adult only material. The internet does.communistworkethic wrote:Do you have to explain you're not watching porn when there's a women in a bikini on the TV in say Holiday 2007? Or Desperate Housewives ??
And if his daughter tells his ex that she's seen him looking at bikini clad pictures on his computer the ex would probably jump to the wrong conclusions. If his daughter tells his ex that she's seen him looking at bikini clad pictures on his tv she probably won't jump to a conclusion at all.
Don't see the problem myself. These pictures may have been fine in the past but we've since receive one or two complaints suggesting that the frequency of them is becoming a bit OTT. It is a family site after all.

For the record - I've never complained about your avatar - but obviously others have!communistworkethic wrote:you've still not explained the difference.
What's stopping you showing them what you're reading? It's hardly like there's porn on here. If it's my avatar that has so upset you then you can show it in context, I believe that's referred to as "explaining". Apparently some parents are quite big on it with their kids.
As for how I raise my child - I think even you would agree that that is my business and not yours.
As I've said already I have always worked around my daughter being with me and visiting tw - but as tw is a family site - why should I - or anyone else for that matter - have to go to the trouble to avoid your apparent need to post pictures of women in bikini's?

aye because education shouldn't be part of growing up should it? You'd prefer to them to be ignornant of teh world I suppose? But not ignorant of say, er religious indoctrination?TANGODANCER wrote:Reading, writing and arithmatic? What happened to "childhood"?communistworkethic wrote:hence, explaining.
Edjukayshun it's teh ansa.
If a kid of 11 hasn't been made aware of sex and sexuality by their parents by that age then frankly they've already been misinformed by their friends.

I'm afraid I might have been the one who mentioned commie's avatar (which gave me a nasty shock when I first saw it because I wasn't expecting her to take a running jump at me). However, I did not complain privately and have never in my life complained to authority without letting the complainee know what I had said. Personally I don't think this is about working/home habits, education, religion or pornography. It is more about good taste and consideration for the feelings of others in this virtual facility that we all share. Several of commie's avatars have pushed the envelope of good taste in my view, as have many pictures by many posters including myself
. In terms of consideration for others, we now know that pictures of horrific injuries are upsetting to some posters - henceforth therefore we should post these as a link with a written description if they appear within a thread, or make it clear in the title if it's a new thread. It seems reasonable to do so. Similarly with scantily clad or unclad bodies. Ultimately this is a football forum and we don't want to lose members through upsetting content.

Yes, there called porn sites!Penny wrote:Don't some of the other sites just have a completely seperate section for the half naked / porn stuff that only people who are granted access can view ?
I have no idea why a BWFC site would want to open a soft porn forum.

To be honest I have no idea why a BWFC site would want various threads of soft porn / half undressed women when as you say there are porn / soft porn sites out there but people do and as they say each to their own.Soldier_Of_The_White_Army wrote: Yes, there called porn sites!

I was just thinking it would save the problem of people inadvertently stumbling across pics that made them feel uncomfortable depending on who is looking over their shoulder as described by Sluffy etc.
Was just trying to offer constructive suggestions.

I am well aware of your views on religion. Why you constantly try to bring everything round to it baffles me. We already found out we have drastically opposed views on the subject. Mine will never change in my lifetime so I have no intention of going there. I'll ignore the comment. Don't bother pursuing it. No takers here.communistworkethic wrote:aye because education shouldn't be part of growing up should it? You'd prefer to them to be ignornant of teh world I suppose? As for the rest: We had education. It appertained to learning the basics of knowlege. It wasn't considered necessary to involve kids under fourteen in matters of sex. After fourteen you soon learned all that stuff but at least you knew the barriers of decency and that part was taboo till then. We also had parental conrol and were made to understand that there were some thing that were'nt within our realm because we were the said kids and all that would come later. We obeyed our parents to a large degree and thirteen year old mothers were largely unknown in normal UK culture.
It all worked okay; we learned the art of play and all things childlike. It was quite an innocent little world and we were happy enough. Sex, like everything else, is a part of life, not a way of life. It's also a part of growing up that comes all too soon. Ask anyone with a twelve year old daughter whether they want her being an encyclopedia of sex at her age. Marriage, as an institution, has suffered drastically from our "free-world" attitude to it all. I won't go further as we are a generation apart. We won't agree but someday, if you have children of your own, your views may suffer some serious change. Time will tell.

I think this thread has done it's tour. We have acted on the concerns of a lot of feedback and complaints from T-W members and believe we are doing what is best for the site.
We have stated our wishes on the matter, and hope those requests are respected.
Should anyone have anything further to say on the matter, do not hesitate to PM a member of the Admin or any MOD. You can trust me when I say that no-ones opinion and feedback is any less important then the next persons.
