fecking amazing, opening with Loose off Fun House. Legendary.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, get yourself in front of the telly tonight and tune in to one of the five BBC channels that are showing highlights, because it was THE performance of the weekend by an absolute f**king mile! Worth watching for the stage invasion alone by the 'World Champion Glastonbury Dancers' during a rendition of 'No Fun'!
The Killers weren't bad but no amount of pyrotechnics, animation and lighting effects could match the sheer raw power of The Stooges!
No idea what The f**king Kooks were doing on the main stage. Utter, utter shite. Middle-class tossers playing at being rock 'n' roll stars. Don't encourage them.

Didn't the Stones all start off as pupils at the Royal School of Economics, or something IIRC?trotter58 wrote:

Can't quite picture Keef Richards studying economics, not unless it had something to do with the monetary value of weed.TANGODANCER wrote:Didn't the Stones all start off as pupils at the Royal School of Economics, or something IIRC?trotter58 wrote:

Jagger was at LSE, he knew Richards from being at primary school in Kent together. The others they met as just members of other bands in London.

Bet you can't imagine him as a boy scout or singing for the queen as a choirboy....but he did both.trotter58 wrote:Can't quite picture Keef Richards studying economics, not unless it had something to do with the monetary value of weed.TANGODANCER wrote:Didn't the Stones all start off as pupils at the Royal School of Economics, or something IIRC?trotter58 wrote:

399 fans and one thief invaded the stage. He should be locked up for twelve months while the sound system plays Cliff Richards and Kylie Minogue records.trotter58 wrote:http://www.functionpix.com/index.php/ar ... bury/1415/

A 26-year-old man has died in Yeovil District Hospital after a suspected drugs overdose at the Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
The man, believed to be from the West Midlands, was found unconscious by festival staff in the Park Farm area of the site early on Saturday.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said that a full post-mortem examination would now be carried out.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, he added.

What he said. A true Glastonbury Moment. We couldn't stop laughing. Great scenes.trotter58 wrote:One of the great Glastonbury performances of all time!Dr Hotdog wrote:I'm watching some of Iggy and the Stooges on the BBC streaming thing

More Gruff Rhys action too, without the Super Furries this time, sat behind a table in a stage set designed like a TV testcard. Minimalist band for some, then (after announcing "you may have to bear with me... I'm a little bit battered") played solo by building up samples of himself. As you can imagine the samples got less and less sane. Brilliant maniac.
Editors did a good set. I still don't like their music, but they played it well.

I'll tell you what kind of people take their kids to Glastonbury, they are couples called Raymond and Emily, with their single child Joshua. Raymond works for meals on wheels and Barbara works as midday supervisory assistant at the local school.
Raymond wears green trousers and Barbara wears dungarees.
They both believe that if they point stones in a northernly direction that it gives positive vibes.
I ain't got time for them.
