I think you'll find that Dickie Guy's penalty save from Peter Lorimer to earn the then pub side, Wimbledon, a draw against the then reigning champions was far more "Classic Wimbledon" than that feeble feck* will ever draw out of the hat.Daxter wrote:Classic Wimbledon that was.
Even when he does his victory thing:

That one, he just looks like a pathetically weak man, strugling to open an in-car ash tray.

No, he just adds to the perception of him being a feeble feck*, in my opinion, with the way in which he celebrates victory. Of course he doesn't "jump around throwing his arms around like a big kid", that's how some other players celebrate, something I don't recall conding either. I wasn't talking about anyone else, I'm talking specifically about Tim Henman. Is that not clear by virtue of me only mentioning Tim Henman and no-one else?cowdrill wrote:oh so he doesnt jump around throwing his arms around like a big kid
big shitting deal!

Carry on.
YOU CLIMB OBSTACLES LIKE OLD PEOPLE FXCK!!!!!!!!!!!
i agreeDaxter wrote:While Henman has never quite been able to win a grand slam his consistency during is career is commendable. He has been a legitimate top 10 player for most of his career and his record at Wimbledon is very good. It's hard to dislike him as well. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke.
unfortunately a lot of people hate him purely because he's middle class
i think its called inverted snobery

Henman has been a credit to British tennis during the last ten years and been a top player. He has been unlucky that his peak on grass coincided with Sampras at his pomp and to make matters worse he now has Federer to contend with probably two of the best grass court players / most dominant players of the last 30 years. Only the British tennis authorities would slow down the courts at the same time as we have a player who loves the fast grass. Hard to think any of the other majors would disadvantage one of their own players in this way.
Without Henman we would have been reduced to the ridiculous position of cheering some muppet like Jeremy Bates for managing to make it to the 2nd round. With the exception of Andy Murray, British tennis is still struggling to find anyone who has Henmans talent / fight / attitude. The British womens game currently is probably not that far off where the mens game was pre-Henman.
Strange thing is with Henman I saw a documentary showing him off court a few years ago and he is the life and soul of the locker room, full of mischief and laughter which is just about the opposite of his on court persona.

I'd say it is success. He's just been able to translate it to the grandest stage. To describe his career as mediocre is hars in my opinion.communistworkethic wrote:top 10 ranked 5 out of 13 year career,

Furthest progressed in a grand slam - Semi final,
career wins 13 - 2 challenge tour, 10 atp, 1 masters series,
last tournament win oct 2003
is that success? Or do some rate mediocrity to highly? you decide
