Well I guess if a footballer was ranked as one of the top 10 players in the world 5 times in a 13 year career you would say he was an outstanding player and had an amazing career ?communistworkethic wrote:top 10 ranked 5 out of 13 year career,

I don't really see how being a top 10 player in the world at what is a true world game for over a third of your career can be classed as mediocre.
Having said that for the talent he had he probably should have won more than he did (or has so far ?).

That bloke he played any good is he?Penny wrote:Yes 13 - 11 after another Henman roller coaster ride. The draws for the next two rounds don't look too bad, if he can keep up his performance levels, so the second week is a possibility....after that who knows ?Soldier_Of_The_White_Army wrote:He's just won apparently.

One of the better clay court players of the past decade. He played better than he's ever played on grass before. Turning this debate on it's head, there are plenty who describe Hunt as being mediocre, and yet he has consistently featured for a Top 8 Premiership side that has qualified for European football twice.Daxter wrote:Yes. To be fair Moya isn't a grass court specialist but considering Henman has barely won a match all year any win was welcome and a win against a seeded player even more so.
Henman will be blown away these days by the likes of Federer but it would be nice to see him make the second week.

Sort of agree, But how many proffessional footballers are there in the world in camparison to tennis players? theres probably more teams than there are tennis players, and the average squad size must be around 20 per teamPenny wrote:Well I guess if a footballer was ranked as one of the top 10 players in the world 5 times in a 13 year career you would say he was an outstanding player and had an amazing career ?communistworkethic wrote:top 10 ranked 5 out of 13 year career,

Not really, I'll switch it on in the latter stages of Wimbledon if there are any British players left (so hardly ever) I think that Murrey fella's our next big hope isn't he?Penny wrote:Tennis not your thing SOTWA ?Soldier_Of_The_White_Army wrote: That bloke he played any good is he?

So you're suggesting a transfer to Wimbledon for Nicky or are you suggesting he takes up tennis ?Bench wrote: Turning this debate on it's head, there are plenty who describe Hunt as being mediocre, and yet he has consistently featured for a Top 8 Premiership side that has qualified for European football twice.

Tim cannot rely on a team of ten other players though to carry him though. He can make some good tackles if he wants to, but his distribution has been shocking this season.Bench wrote:Turning this debate on it's head, there are plenty who describe Hunt as being mediocre, and yet he has consistently featured for a Top 8 Premiership side that has qualified for European football twice.Daxter wrote:Yes. Henman's been a credit to British tennis and it will be sad to see him go, even if Murray goes on to dominate the world stage. He may not win prolifically, but for a good few years he was there or there abouts which earns him his past rankings. The way he handles the pressure too is admirable.
