Sweden vs USA.

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Sweden vs USA.

Post by libreg » Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:04 pm

This game is about to start in about half an hour. Good ol' Wilhelmson plays for them, but I don't know if he's going to start or not. The usa have a very different team for this friendly, with only 3 players from the MLS. I don't know if the coach is trying to suggest the MLS sucks, or if he just wants to give the players a rest with the fecked up schedule of the MLS. Obviously, I'm going to be rooting for the USA, but I don't think we'll win, because we have a brand new squad, the team arrived in sweden two days ago and just relaxed, and only trained for 2 hours the day after that. I'm predicting a 2-0 win for sweden.
In other news, I'm watching Brazil play. Algeria fans are booing them as much as possible. Ronaldinho is god.

How do you know about sharlie Joseph? Either way, he plays for Grenada, even though as a teenager he moved to the USA.

Why would anyone in their right mind watch MLS? Even I slap myself once in a while for watching.
Anyway, Joseph Ngwenya is better >___> Anyway, I'm off to watch the match I was talking about. Hooray.

Its halftime, and I'm very disappointed at the US performance. While the US have dominated in terms of possession, and the score is 0-0, the usa are horrible at attacking, and defending a counter attack. And boy, have sweden counter attacked, all their attacking efforts so far have been counter attacks actually, with the exceptions of corners and free kicks. The two USA forwards are Landon Donovan, who's an attacking midfielder, and clint dempsey, who's a side midfielder. How do you expect these short bastards to get at the end of any balls? Brian Ching was supposed to start, who's very good with ariel balls, but surprisingly failed the fitness test. Back when Brian McBride was still a US international, we were good with delivering, and finishing. Now its a wtf fest. I can't wait for Jozy Altidore to make it to the international team.... the kid is only 17, and better then most the players out there, with the exception of Ibrahomavic, and maybe Beasley. Anyway, Bob Bradley is a good half time speaker, he made the US win the gold cup when they were 1 down, so..... lets hope for substitutes. This is a friendly after all, and there are many ways you can experiment. I want a striker like Kamani Hill to come on.

EDT: Woot woot! Bobby Convey has come on as a substitute, after a year of injuries.
Jesus christ, almost wide open net for dempsey and he couldn't flick it. Thats why I want a striker, and thats why I don't like dempsey.

WOW. What a goal by Kallstrom. And now Sweden is up by 1. No surprise there. Although the swedish player DID foul a US player before he shot the ball. Dirty Tricks? Maybe. Either way, the fact that Bob Bradley is an idiot and hasn't made any changes to this struggling squad shows that the US deserves to be behind.

The match was quite dull but Beasley was quite a spark. Howard was sharp as usual. Donovan was invisible and the back 4 were way too busy in my opinion. It's just a friendly though so I'm not even bothered. Btw MLS 4 life.

Didn't get to see it. But Dempsey and Donovan? It's a stretch to call either of them second strikers, and playing them together is silly. Playing Donovan off Ching might work but I've never been convinced by Dempsey up front.

No, he's only 17, I wouldn't think such a young person should be playing with the regular international team, friendly or not.
