Tried the new tapas bar in Bolton tonight (across the road from Ikon) "Salsa Tapas Bar". Quite a decent selection and Wednesday is a good night for quick service. Dishes are small but tasty (as tapas are meant to be) and at an average of £15 per person ( around five slections each and garlic bread, including a jug of sangria, not bad value for a sit down meal.

Cheers TD. I'd heard there was another tapas place in Bolton but couldn't remember where it was. I did the 'Tapas for a tenner' thing at La Tasca with a few friends last night which was pretty good.

Been to the Manchester La Tasca, which is okay, but none of them can touch El Rincon (down a side street opposite the Opera House Theatre in Manchester again). Great food, a real Spanish atmosphere and full meals if you want them. Decent bar too. Not cheap but a good place for a special occasion. Great range of wines including Marquesa de Cathares.

Been to the Manchester La Tasca, which is okay, but none of them can touch El Rincon (down a side street opposite the Palace Theatre in Manchester again). last time i had tapas i was 14 in edinburgh and i didn't like it at all....

i may have to try it out again...15 quid is nae bad

I thought El Rincon was somewhere behind Deansgate?

It must be the time of the month for tapas or something - went to Esteban on Lark Lane the other evening with my girlfriend - most enjoyable it were, too. Strangely, though, they either serve halves of lager, or two pint pitchers. Couldn't quite work that one out, myself.

Also had some decent tapas up in Edinburgh recently when we went to the festival - just off the bottom of the Royal Mile. Buggered if I can remember what the restaurant is called, but I could find it again.

My 'Local' in Mijas does the best tapas on the planet, it's just immense - Quails eggs with cinnamon and spinach croquets were my personal favourites that I haven't seen in any Tapas place in the UK

If any of you fancy a top quality Chinese (no really, I mean it) then you may wish to try the Tung Fong in Worsley (a favourite of Svens when he used to stay at The Marriot). More expensive than most but you soon come to realise why.

Superb! the little Spanish bar next door is a treat for quiet drinks too!

quails eggs? oh aye they serve them at the Reebok now along with roasted swan, larks' tongues and otters noses.

We have an excellent Spanish Tapas restaurant in Enfield too called 'Quixote's'

The paella is the best I've had.

...and Campos second home too! Me and Mrs Trotter have been a few times now and we've often seen Ivan chatting away to the owner at the bar.

Food at the Tung Fong is good (I don't live too far from it). Only comment is around the reservations process - they tend to allocate places in two "shifts" so if you're on an early one they can look to get you outta the seat occasionally...Other reasonable ones around and about are Puccini's - which strangely enough isn't Chinese (oft used by the Red Shite en masse, England FC and England Cricket team when they're at the Marriott) and Milan (again not Chinese

Yeah, I'd agree with those. Puccini's is superb if there's a crowd of you especially.
