Its on a 51 plate, covered about 75000 miles and is still in great nick. The meeting to view the car was arranged for a service station on the M6. The purchasers (East Europeans - don't know if there is anything to read into that) made no attempt to haggle on the price, nor did they examine the vehicle in any great depth. Johnny Smallbrain happily accepted their cheque, and surprise surprise - it bounced. Car was stopped a few days later down in London being driven by some lads who had just bought it. So it now gets complicated in terms of reclaiming it because it's been sold on.

1. they give you a draft for more than the car's worth, you pay in to the bank and 3 days later you draw on it giving them the extra cash and your keys. a few days later the draft bounces as it's fraudulent, you've lost your motor and the extra cash.
2. They give you a draft, you hand over the keys thinking a draft is the same as cash. Turns out the draft if forged/stolen and therefore worthless (i.e. it's jsut a bit of paper as it's not been issued by the bank) and you've lost your motor.
If someone offers yo a draft as payment then don't hand over the key/docs until it's been confirmed as clear NOT "ok to withdraw against". They only way you'll know is to pay a few quid for "sepcial clearance", it'll go outside teh normal clearing systeme and be sent straight to the branch it's allegedly been drawn on. They confirm to your bank that it's kosher.
Otherwise get cash and check for forgeries.

Sold a car on eBay for cash. Twas f*cked, hence the sale - for a grand total of £50. In hand.
To return to the main topic, I can't say I have a car 'cos I can't drive - although I'm learning (watch out London!). Since I failed to add any specs as others have and since this beast may be unknown in England, it is a Chrysler Intrepid 2003, V6, 3.5 litre engine. It is great for the long trips I make in the summer and gets about 10ltrs per 100 kms smoothly at all kinds of (illegal) speeds - hard acceleration can give whiplash. Alas, it is not a good city car being hard to park in small spaces and the fuel economy goes up to about 15/100 (and since petrol is now around 40p a litre this is a concern).Montreal Wanderer wrote:Rocky Mountain traffic jam with son asleep.

[Monty] That's not a bad mileage for a donk that size. Your petrol's pretty cheap as well. Ours is varying between about AUD 1.30 and AUD 1.50 (around 60 to 70p) per litre at the moment, though the price bobbles around so much it's hard to keep track. I purchased my current vehicle five or six months ago and have been keeping tabs on consumption. Not having had an EFI system before I've found that modifying my driving habits has helped. The fact that the majority of my trips are very short (station and back to pick up one wife 1Km each way and to local shops 1Km total) doesn't help either. After said modification of habits I'm getting around 10l/100Km. The unit is a 2 litre 4 cylinder front wheel drive.

Ours goes up and down in irritating fashion too, and varies from province to province. In Quebec it is $1.00 a litre plus or minus $0.10 at any particular time. I now find this is an average of £0.47 per litre. In newfound it was around $1.18, or £0.56 (the most expensive I've seen). Next door in Ontario it is around £0.41. So my off the cuff estimate was a little low. It is generally quite a bit cheaper in the US but, at this time of night, I don't think I can convert US dollars and US gallons (which differ from UK ones) to Canadian dollars and litres with any degree of accuracy. I bet it is. The 2.5L in mine is pretty special, a 0-60 time of 7.4 secs when purchased brand new. Idiot Wind, is your 323 a coupe? I had a V reg 323 coupe in metallic grey with leather interior before my 325 saloon and it was that car that got me hooked on beemers. It's essentially the same engine in both cars, the coupe was a smoother drive than my current sport which is a bit more responsive and has a much firmer ride.
My best mate has a 06 plate M5 and that is surreal, a large saloon car with supercar performance...

I've never driven an M3, M5 or M6 unfortunately.
I have driven a Vauxhall Monaro VXR though, give me a spare £30k for a car and that's what I'd buy!!!

Silver looks especially good on those rare occasions you actually drive it with the top up, as the picture of mine I posted should illustrate!
