Like I said, I didn't see any of it. Shall probably catch a repeat in the wee small hours of one morning when insomnia visits me again...Little Green Man wrote:Except the agent expressly said that 'Boro knew nothing about it, at which point Liverpool (and for that matter all other football clubs) should have shown the tosser the door and reported him to the FA. Except it doesn't work like that, does it?
And as for bent nose? Give me intelligent discourse over unsubstantiated, over-hyped bullshit and waffle any day.

I've had an absolute nice person of a week for insomnia - not been to sleep much before 3am most nights, and last night was gone 4, and having to be up about 7ish for schlepping around the flipping country for work did little to cheer my mood.
Just can not get off to sleep of late - not had it this bad for months...
Mumbles away to himself and wanders off...

Over here the grapefruit is the smaller spherical species of the fruit, while the shaddock or pampelmoes, which still exists, is larger, pulpier and more pear-shaped (and not as nice IMHO). I think Shaddock was a man and pampelmoes was taken from the French pamplemousse (which now means grapefruit).communistworkethic wrote:Batman wrote:The question that kept me awake was 'why is a grapefruit so-called when it looks nowt like a grape'
The grapefruit was known as the shaddock or shattuck until the 1800s. Its current name alludes to clusters of the fruit on the tree, which often appear similar to grapes.

Really? I must do some research. I've got a grapefruit tree in my back yard and I haven't noticed that aspect of it. Perhaps I'm just unobservant. Mind you, with a little TLC it does fruit quite well; it has to as my wife has half a grapefruit each morning when they are in season (and even out of season if she can get them at the supermarket). I'm guessing that her regime works as in over thirty six years of marriage I can recall her having a cold just twice. Neither of those was severe.communistworkethic wrote:The grapefruit was known as the shaddock or shattuck until the 1800s. A bump for this old venerable institution... not had a good week or two with this of late, stupid late nights and early mornings don't make for the best of times. The daft thing about insomnia is that most people after a late night the night before will have an early one the following day, for me it just seems to set me off on a trend of lots of late nights...
Got a glass or two of vino to accompany me, though, and listening to some good tunes (Sondre Lerche featuring heavily tonight, along with Dylan) so that's me sorted.
The good thing about insomnia is that it allows you to catch up with stuff that you don't ordinarily get time to - how many other people will have their washing machine and tumble dryer going at 1:30 in the morning today, eh?
