Ok, ok, but in terms of something that is reasonably priced and readily available, Nando's is the best.communistworkethic wrote:Nando's is your favourite food??? Good to see that you've used your time at university and in Europe to expand your palate
The simplicity of a whole hot peri-peri chicken, with spicy rice, chips and a portguese roll, washed down with Super Bock or re-fillable Coke, is very difficult to surpass, in my opinion.
But go on then Commie, impress me with what your food of choice is, you being the urbane, sophisticated, cosmopolitan gent that you are!

I would struggle to suggest I had a "food of choice" these days, it's become very much a fuel commodity to me rather than an experience. I'm looking for the quality of what I'm consuming as opposed to the flavourless battery farmed crap that the likes of Nando's profer as chicken.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Ok, ok, but in terms of something that is reasonably priced and readily available, Nando's is the best.communistworkethic wrote:Nando's is your favourite food??? Given part of my job is "entertaining", I would probably take "modern british" or an upmarket italian over other things, where I have a bit more concept of the ingredients, their quality and the way they've been used. At home there's a deli I use which has lots of fresh pasta and a few farm shops nearby that provide a very good selection of fruit, veg and meat.

On a relative point, when's your next race organised for?
I'm looking round for a local 10 miler, possibly this side of Christmas. I want to do some half marathons next year and then the big one on 2009

I'm doing the Abbey Dash in Leeds this Sunday. But to be perfectly honest I'm still fecked from NY. Asked my mate who's a club runner if it was normal and he just pissed himself and said "why do you think I just do one per year"

Burger King? Let me get this right, then. There was a Burger King on the site where Nando's has opened? Seriously, I've never seen a Burger King on Middlebrook in my life.perfan wrote:I've never had Nando's and am very upset it has replaced Burger King which was my pre-match meal of choice.

So go on then, seeing as I have uncovered some more members of the Nando's fanclub, what spice do you all go for?
I'm a 'hot' man myself, but my girlfriend can't go above lemon and herb without it ruining the meal for her, and my dear mother eats extra hot as if it's the most normal thing in the world.

I've only ever been in one, in Stratford. Should any of you be down that way for the Olympics, or whatever, there's this pub called the King Edward VII that has an absolutely fantastic little restaurant through the back. Anyway, on this one occassion it was shut so I ended up in Nando's. I had what they claimed was their speciality - something called peri-peri chicken. I remember this in so far as it was bloody marvellous, slowly cooked so that the meat fell apart. Hopefully they'll be doing it similarly at the Middlebrook one. I'll check it out sometime.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:So go on then, seeing as I have uncovered some more members of the Nando's fanclub, what spice do you all go for?

Nando's isn't really 'fast food' - in fact I reckon grilled chicken with rice is pretty healthy stuff, but we have had mention of a few fast food outlets.
Who then, would fancy this pizza? Be honest...

It was on the far side of the retail car park, near the 'carpet district' so it depends how lazy you are with so many places being nearer the groundBruce Rioja wrote:Burger King? Right, presumably every branch of a franchise like Nando's has its own manager with some power.
Would it be too much to ask for a Nando's that is situated right outside a bloody football stadium to be open for an extra hour (i.e. shutting at 11pm rather than 10pm) on the night of a home match?

Currently the biggest issue is getting into the fckg place, so the manager can sit back, smug as he like's, raking it in ... & not getting himself set unachievable 2nd year targets.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Right, presumably every branch of a franchise like Nando's has its own manager with some power.

Last week it was "... I can get you a table in about 1 hour sir!". You can go fck yourself, then.
On the crest of a wave, at present.
