Man City are complete failures! Let's all laugh at 'em!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

6-0. Nice. For the rest of the week, whenever my friends makes fun of me for having the same number of points as Derby, I'll remind him Shevchenko scored on him.

Cmon HRG, I have a lot of respect for you, don't threaten that by using action as a verb

IIRC it hit the white balloon, which confused the Citeh defender no end. Eriksson went on about it for ages while insisting he wasn't blaming the defeat on it. Sky Sports 'News' have been running an interview with the bloke who took the balloons. Honestly.

Why didn't the lazy bastard goalie just burst them when the action was up the other end?

Mr Svennis spoke of this too, while absolutely not blaming the defeat on a balloon. Apparently young Joseph was "busy".

DSB, "exit" as a verb, yes or no?

Whyever not? Single characters have been exiting stage left for years, even if multiple one exeunt omnes.

Only just seen this. As Montgomery of Canada points out, it's long been used in stage directions; however, I'm struggling to come up with another instance in which it couldn't be replaced to better effect with "leave" or some other simple verb. (I'm all ears for examples.)

I refer again to George Orwell's rules, often ignored (including by me), never bettered.

1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
2. Never use a long word where a short one will do.
3. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
4. Never use the passive where you can use the active.
5. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
6. Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

Anyway, Citeh...

HRG said "blue-sky out-of-the-box style thinking" elsewhere not too long ago.

Having worked in central London I know all about the usage of actions moving forward.

Yes, as bare Latin.

What's bare mean?

As you can tell, I was politely saying 'no'. But I'm not a didact about these things, and can have my mind changed if decent examples are put forward...
